Anyone have an opinion on how he will do in the Canadian series? Is Metcalf coming back? His reception will be Luke warm at best. I can hear the boos already.

There hasn't been more than 30-40 threads on this already.

He will win it going away.

You would think the reception would be great as you are getting some real talent for the series.
The Canadian series has some fast guys but would the series be better if none of the top AMA guys showed up?The more talent that shows up only lends more credibility to the series.

Why would we boo him? He is extremely talented as many others who have come here before were. We didn't boo Dubach or Kiniry or Huffman. I would be surprised to hear anyone other than a few drunken yahoos do anything other than be impressed with his skill and thank him for elevating how our series is perceived.

metcalf has beaten in in the states a fair bit, it should be a good series, I dont think Alessi will have it all his own way,

A confident Alessi will holeshot and win every moto by 30 seconds or more.

put them both back in the USA then it's a toss up.

While I think he will do well and win a few races, I also think they will not be able to go drama free all summer.

I would almost guarantee there will be problems with them and they will either be penalized or fined for something.

Metcalf will successfully defend his title.

In my opinion he will win the title.

From the cmrc racing website- the 2013 champ in 450s was brett metcalfe .

Now really think about that metcalfe is no slouch, but i personally don't think he is as fast as alessi outside.

in 2012- alessi finished 2nd to dungey and straight up beat him at a couple of rounds.

in 2012- metcalfe finished a whopping 13th...then went to canada the following year and won a title.

so for somebody to say the talent in canada is on par with the usa is a joke...

I remember watching jsr (jean-sebastian-roy),( not giguere...lmao i was thinking hockey)on blackfoot honda win the title...At that point way back when i came to the realization its definitely a good series but it does not compare to whats down here.

I respect all the riders, But alessi will be in the title hunt from the drop of the first gate

metcalf missed a fair bit of 2012, and in 2011 beat Alessi overall,

think about metcalf and southwick.

now think about metcalf vs. alessi at southwick.....

now picture canada races as more sandy than southwick (most are).

now factor Tony in as being his normal psychotic self.

alessi will get worked over in canada by metcalf if both are healthy the whole series.

Alessi also missed the first few rounds in 2011. IMO alessi is faster than metty outdoors. Alessi is an awesome outdoor rider and has improved quite a bit in sx this year. Idk how ppl think the Canadian guys will beat alessi when he is a top 5 guy outdoors with everyone not hurt.

Alessi will do well, so will Metty. I wouldn't be surprised to see it come down to the last round between at least these two.

"in 2012- alessi finished 2nd to dungey and straight up beat him at a couple of rounds."
-In reality Alessi only finished ahead of Dungey in 1 moto out of 24 and that was Washougal.

-2010 and 2011 Metcalfe finished ahead of Alessi in the final points and by over a full race each year.
2010 Metcalfe 2nd (398pts), Alessi 5th (314pts)
2011 Metcalfe 4th (374pts) Alessi 5th (304pts)

-In 2012 Metcalfe only made 5 rounds before his bike ran out of gas during practice and ended his season.
Alessi had the edge after round 5, Metcalfes last race. Alessi was 2nd (182pts), Metcalfe 5th (142pts).

-In 2013 Metcalfe topped Alessi in 2 of the 3 races he ran in the US and outscored him 81 to 56 over those 3 races.

In Metcalfe's 4 years of 450 outdoor racing Alessi only had the edge on him during 1 season.

Best post in the thread. I'd say its still a toss up, more because they both seem to miss rounds sometimes, gotta be in it to win it. Hope they both stay healthy and I'm excited about having another pro series to start following.

How many Nationals has Alessi won vs Metcalf ? that's a number you can take to the bank.

in 2011 Alessi got 2nd at GH then won 4 moto's in a row and got hurt, Metty has won 1 maybe two Nationals in either class.

I'm a Metcalf fan , I just think Alessi with his starts and less overall competition will win most of the races.

Why would the Canadians boo Alessi? You got maybe 4 riders up there worth a fuck, why not bee glad to get to see a rider like Alessi racing?

Alessi is riding a lot better this year than he has the last few years, in SX anyways. Im sure it will carry over. The guy is easy a top 5 rider in AMA MX. I think he will mop the floor up there! He is at the top of his game right now & when was the last time Brett raced at the top level?

No, no he won't. He's never raced these tracks, and it always holds true, Canadian riders are faster at home than they are when they pop down for a national. I consider metty and Colton the co favorites, then alessi.

No disrespect to Metty, I was just pointing out that in the GP's Cairoli often doesn't dominate qualifiers and winning one is no Guarantee to winning a moto.

As far as USA choking comment get back to me when someone passes us on the wins list.

Hopefully RV is healthy enough to do an MXDN one of these years.

I think RV won't ever do one again. How could he top his domination at Budds Creek and what would be to gain for him ?

Also it's Obvious Monster cares more about him racing the Monster cup than the MXdN
