Over the last couple weeks my family and i have had the pleasure of having a special kid spend time with us, his name is Darius Glover. My son raced locally with Darius over the years and we got to know him pretty well. Unfortunately Darius was seriously injured in a race at a track called Field of Dreams in Pennsylvania. His injury left him paralyzed from the waist down. To this day the love that Darius has for his dirtbike is incredible. When we went to see him in the hospital all he said was i WILL ride again. Well he was right, a couple years after his injury he began to ride a specially equipped bike for riders with his condition. And i will admit he goes pretty damn fast on that thing.
Darius continues to be an inspiration to us all and you will never see him complain about his condition. He always has a smile on his face and wants to do nothing but ride and race his bike.
Next week Darius will be racing the Xgames for the first time in the adaptive SX race. I cant begin to tell you how excited he is. During this last two weeks i have been helping him build his new bike to get it race ready. Ohh boy is there some work that goes into one of these bikes. We installed the slipper clutch, moved the rear brake to the traditional clutch position, installed the special seat, exhaust, had the crash bars made with leg restraints, and an experimental custom made cable driven shifter ( boy was that an adventure ). We finished everything up this morning and had to get the bike to Travis Pastranas house because they are going to take it to Cali for Darius. That was a cool experience. We would like to thank Jonathan Beasley for setting that up!! As some of you know Jonathan is the owner of Budds Creek and has been a huge supporter of Darius.
As you guys can imagine there are a ton of sponsors that he would like to thank Heyser Cycle, Kicker, KMC Wheels, Spy, Engine Ice, RNB Racing, FMF, Budds Creek MX Park, Alpine Star, Twin Air, Mid Atlantic Fallen Riders Association, and many more.
If anyone is interested you can check some videos out of Darius at interlacedfilms.com
I would like to thank Darius for sharing this experience with me and wish him the best of luck at X.
Please excuse the front number plate if it looks a bit odd. The plastic hasnt come in yet. LOL

Rick on Darius and good luck!
Was he riding a Suzuki last year? I saw someone at Pittsburgh Raceway last year riding with a similar setup.
Good luck to Darius, and I hope he has an Awesome time!

It's amazing what Ricki James has done for riders with this injury. Before him I never heard of other guys with spinal injuries ride but since him he seems to have inspired countless to go out and do what he's done.
