Exactly the same injury I sustained many years ago, with exactly the same complications.

I was having trouble posting a comment on the website you linked to. If you're in contact with the family please have them contact a Dr. Charles H. Scudamore at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. He's one of the finest liver and pancreas specialists around with a resume I'd put up against anyone. He was the chief specialist/surgeon in the 12.5 hr operation they performed on me to rebuild my bile duct system that lead to my complete recovery.

I could not recommend him more highly.

I cannot believe this kid has been walking around with these issues since 2005. I know with the extent of my injuries I wouldn't have lasted that long.

I hate to see these kinds of threads because I know what his parents are going through. I wish I could hit the lottery because I have a long list of people I would help.
I have had to deal with my son fighting cancer and if more people that are capable of helping could see what its like they would be more apt to help kids like Randy.

I hope things get better for them.

I'm so glad to see this case getting some attention on this forum, thank you LeakyPipe for posting! Randy and his family definitely could use some support. Please drop in and post up some well wishes and positive words for him on the RiderDown site at Randy Abrahamson/RDF.

Remember, RiderDown.org is here to help injured riders and their families. Not everyone is a top Pro with a huge fan base waiting to shower attention on them when they go down. Most of the riders we help are either recreational, weekend warrior types or amateur racers trying to live the dream. RDF is a volunteer organization that needs your help to accomplish it's mission. If someone you know has a serious crash and is struggling to get through it, refer them to RiderDown. If you have connections, resources or money and want to help your fellow riders who find themselves struggling to make it after a crash - get involved. We don't have all the answers and there is no way we can help everyone with an injury or a hospital bill but we are making a difference in the lives of many!

No problem, I have known Randy for a long time. Their family actually came to my wedding.

Rooster, it'd be fantastic if you'd share some of your experience in dealing with this injury with Randy and his family!!

I've been in contact with Leaky and Randy's mom via email. They have my number and an invitation to call me any time.

Quick update - thanks to help from the riding community we were able to get Randy to the Mayo Clinic for an initial visit. The outlook was good and they recommended a return visit for surgery. We are now working to raise funds through RDF to get him back there ASAP and on the way to regaining his life. Thanks for all your help and support!

As someone who's suffered from a very very similar injury in the past I have to make a plea for donations on Randy's behalf. His condition is treatable and the only thing that seems to be holding them back is money.

I cannot imagine what he's had to go through for nearly 5 years. It took the doctors 3 months to fix my case and it was an absolutely excruciating painful and debilitating experience from start to finish. 5 years has to be unbearable.

This not a case of throwing money at a "maybe" cure or experimental treatment and hoping for the best. I know from experience how quickly and fully the recovery is from this accident with proper treatment. Let's help this kid out and get to see someone walk away healthy from what has had to be a terrible experience that's gone on for far too long.

If you can help please do so. Go to the riderdown.org site and:

To DONATE:
- Go to the top of the page and click on DONATE
- Go to Checkout Donation Details
- Select Donation Amount
- Click Check Out PayPal
- You will be redirected to PayPal (follow instructions)
- MAKE SURE YOU WRITE IN THE MEMO SECTION: (the link that says "Add special instructions to merchant")

Any of you schmucks gonna match my $100?
