My local dealer just called and told me that is the MSRP. We are now over the 9K mark for a dirt bike. It makes the Kawi seem like a steal at $8799. Hell, left over 15 RMZ's are getting blown out for $6500 around here. That looks like the bargain of a lifetime.

If it was a road bicycle it would be 12,000 bucks.

I have an 11 with all of the parts you listed including a full Rekluse Core EXP that will all bolt right in but I'm wanting to try something new. From my understanding, the 15 is just my 11 with minor changes and an air fork.

I actually have radiator braces, complete body kits with graphics (x 2), Rekluse core exp, 2 Yosh full systems (one Ti and one SS), oversized rotor kit, probably a dozen twin air filters, spare seat and countless other parts. After all that, I still wanted to try something new this year. Maybe I shouldn't. In fact, maybe I should just keep my 11.

In KTM's defense, at least this year they delivered an all new bike but when it's a BNG year, I agree.

Will the non factory editions go for full MSRP? I got my '14 Kawi 250F brand new for $1,600 under MSRP. My old man did pay just about MSRP for his 2015 SXF250 factory edition earlier this year though.

With median income decreasing in the US. If you make a $100k a year, its 10% of your income. This sounds like a broken model to me and why the Japanese are on a 4 year cycle on bikes (refinements each year before radically changing the bike). One of the biggest threats to the sport is cost --- and the Japanese are aware of this issue.

That is getting out of hand.

But a downhill mtb will cost you more....and you have to push those things to the top of the hill

If they have one like Narita's Honda from this weekend for that price I won't be able to count to 95 fast enough!!!

I was shocked by the price of mountain bikes when I got into mountain biking earlier this year. I had no idea you could easily spend $10,000 on one.

KTMSswith headlights have been over $10K for a few years now. MX bikes are cheap compared to Enduro and street legal dual sport KTMs

The year over price increase is gravy, when taking into account how much the Euro has fallen against the dollar over the last year.

Up here, a 15 KX450f goes for $9499, and a 15 KX250F goes for $8699, Hell anything 13/14+ USED goes for upwards of $5k. Which is why I am riding an 03 KX125, and not a new shiny 4 stroke. Sad how different the prices are for new and used bikes between the US and Canada, isnt it? Almost drove to Mane a couple years back to pick up an 06 YZ144, youd be lucky to find a blown one here for that!

Look at all the bikes ktm give out, chris birch travels around Europe putting on hard enduro riding schools and at one of them he rode a 15 Dungey edition brand new... the Baylor brothers from gncc put up a pic of 10 plus bikes for there race season... the big dealer show had to have had 40 plus bikes then you throw into the mix all the salaries for mx, ex and enduro, they have pushed hard to dominate everything to do with a dirt bike and really at the end of the day they are counting on consumers to make up the deficit they create. One that really bugs me is Ronnie Renner's bike from x games, probably a 25k bike for close to minute of riding time, I mean does the guy really need a Dungey edition bike for step up and I'm fully aware it's all for publicity and exposure. I've heard so many different theories that a bike shop doesn't make money off of bikes it service/parts/assesories but I really can't see whether it be jap or euro a bike costing more then 3k to make and I think the greediness is going to cost the sport dearly. A lot of the oems are claiming that they are just starting to recover from the rescission but prices are becoming to a point of the average person buying one bike every 5 years regardless of the technology or weight savings. Going to be a sad day once we are fully in another resection again.

Add another $1000 to have it put on to yer boat. And if you buy the $1500 Stainless steel prop i'l throw in the first service for free! (i just pull the killswitch knob twice so the counter resets)

You want that top mounted remote control? No problem, that'l be an extra $1200 mounted and ready to go! (i'l grab the stock remote control so i can sell it later to another victim) And about $400 for the throttle and shift cable.

Don't know who did you electricity on that boat but it has to be re-done, it's a mess. Another $500 and it's picture perfect!

Seems like the old batteries need to be replaced, the main switch is corroded as well, the main power cables are green and brittle so i can't really leave it like that. Down side is, it takes some time to get those to the cabine so that makes it expensive on labour. But i'l cut you some slack and do it for $600 including the switch and both semi-traction batteries.

I'l try to get it done before you leave on your holiday, but i can't promise anything.

Bicycling costs I cannot relate too. No way in the warm place would I pay more for a bicycle....any bicycle......than I would a motorcycle.

KTMs come with all the good stuff no doubt about it. Had a friend of mine who has a teenager racing tell me last week he could get a deal on a KTM 250F but the cost difference between the KTM and Kawi parts is why they went Kawasaki.

People buy expensive bicycles so they can go to internet forums and brag about how much they've spent.

I see a trend developing with some dirtbikes

With the current exchange rate dollar-euro it should be cheaper than last year's.

It really bothers me, when the dollar goes up all the bike or bicycle shops here in europe tell you prices are up because of that, but I've never heard "hey, you know what? The new trek will be 10% less!!" when its the other way around. Sad

Like you said, it's not that expensive to build once you have the product. The cost is to develop a complete new bike.
