Good point! I remember nascar teams saying stuff like a fifty cent clamp caused their engine to blow. Damage control is what i always thought.

Well alot of parts in a fork cost $7. Thats not the point. You can not have a $7 part cause what happened today.

Can you elaborate on which part failed?
I imagine some of these teams run an adapter, an elbow or some other fittings on the top of the forks to fill them depending on handlebar position, etc.
