True dat. Last year they ran a 2-wheel drive on a couple of the Yamahas. Not this one aparently.

BTW, if we are talking about Dakar then there is a latvian guy Dambis who will be the first one competing in Dakar on a electric car . He builds all his cars in his own little shop, and he`s been pretty successful in past years.
He`ll build his own version of electric car. This is a his cars from previous years, he calls them OSCar.

that is American Jonah Street...the best shot at a Dakar Title for us Yanks...at least on two-wheels.





My personal favorite Dakar rider is Chile's Francisco 'Chaleco' Lopez on the Aprilia.

I was just browsing through a Dirt Bike mag today (May edition) and saw the right up on Jonah Street. Pretty cool article and the bike just trips me out. The Dakar rally is just gnarly.

for sure, he won 2 stages in this year's edition...they seem to have leveled the playing filed with the biggest displacement allowed being 450cc now. the KTMs are solid, I wonder how Street would do with the support of KTM? I think he could challenge the likes of Marc Coma and Cyril Despres

Wheels will be powered exclusively by electric battery`s however there will be small gasoline motor which will run electrical generator when needed.
