Looking to hear how it has worked out for Vitards who have bought a 6D helmet. Do they run big or small or spot on? Thank you.

Rock,

I'd e-mail 6D & they'll have a way to figure out what you need.

I'm normally a small but wear a sized down medium. The small was just too small. I'm happy with mine after sizing it down to fit me the way I want it to fit.

The 6D size chart says my 22.5" melon takes a Medium.

That is confusing as I currently switch between two Bell 8s in size Large.
Previous HJCs were size Large also.

They fit great!

Frankly, since I have no local dealers, it has kept me from ordering a 6D.

Thanks Manny. I saw they have a fitment chart where you measure your head for the size but I was hoping to hear from people who ordered their helmets after utilizing the 6D fitment chart to see how it worked for them.

I saw their Sprinter Van at A1 but don't know if they have a booth in Vendor Row for fitment at SX. Would be great if they do!

I ordered a large and it fits great. My son ordered a medium and it fit him just great. 6D helmets are "true to size."

I tried the medium on and it was perfect and my Shoei's are all medium.

Generally speaking, if you are properly fitted in your current helmet, you will wear the same size in a 6D. We run fairly true to size, if not just a little big, so if you're on the bubble between two sizes, you probably want to go down. As an example, I personally measure at 23 ¼” which is at the upper end of our large sizing. the XL fits me great right out of the box, but would be too loose after it breaks in. the large is a little snug when its new, but is perfect after the first few days at the track.

The 6D ATR-1 helmet comes in three shell sizes, one for every two fit sizes. Due to the fact that the small and the medium are two different shell sizes, we occasionally have a customer who is in between. We offer an optional comfort liner, called a Medium-Small, which goes into the medium shell and tightens it up. We also offer cheekpads ranging in thickness from 35mm to 55mm.

It’s important to remember that a new helmet will break in a fair amount, so when you try it on for the first time, it should be just a little tighter than you like. Perfect turns into too loose, slightly too tight turns into perfect.

If anyone ever has any questions, please feel free to call me directly. I can usually get a good idea of what size you’ll need based on what helmet you currently wear and how it fits you. I can also help locate your nearest 6D Dealer.
I’m available from 8 to 5, Pacific Time, Monday through Friday

Large in Shoei - Large in 6d. I did put Medium cheek pads in it and it seems to fit more to my liking.

I normally wear large and purchased one. 6D measuring chart has me just into the XL category though. I'm happy with the fit of the "L" but would say it is a tiny bit bigger than most other brands.

No shops around here carry them in stock. Luckily I had a friend who let me try his on for figment.

I have been wearing a size small arai for a few years. Went to try a small 6d and could not even get it over my head. I bought a medium and it seems to fit well but have yet to ride with it.
