Gang, I did a little more looking into this today and it turns out that there were apparently only six actual arrests over the three days in Indiana but 55 "citations for arrest," which means tickets handed out for such violations as underage drinking, public intoxication, carrying open beverages and more... Two of the actual arrests came when people apparently showed up in the evening at the race track already intoxicated, and were confronted by enforcement officers at the front gate.

The "55 arrested" headline in the press release by the local authorities was not technically correct.

If anything is in the Media , that you know about , or were involved in , its always wrong , either slightly , or just flat out lies... you have to also apply that logic to things you wernt at... cos somebody else was there , and they are saying 'man thats BS'..

LOL

never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

I wonder why the crack down from the cops all of the sudden? Complaints? Incident, maybe?

Funny how shit gets twisted. I have a buddy that had a Mustang GT that he had put some money in. He was driving when it was slick out and he couldn't stop in time and lightly tapped the car in front of him on the highway. It wasn't that serious of a wreck and he never tried manipulating it to where it wasn't his fault. . . Next thing you know, there was DUI speculation and he was automatically racing his car according to the local news. . . He was never even given a field sobriety test. . .

That depends. A "citation for arrest" is still an arrest isn't it?. You can be arrested without going to jail, which means you still are summoned to court to face the charges against you. Or am I mistaken?

Technically correct...a better description would be 6 taken into custody. Depending on the agency and the system the call would be cleared with citation/ ticket and issued a court date, or arrest I.e. taken to jail. On a side note got a text about that venue having or going to have a national caliber MX track. Can anyone confirm this?

such a surprise that the media depicts a motorcycle event that way.

but then it's likely that in that area of Indiana, 55 such tickets likely are not handed out in a month. so it would be "news".

maybe it's a wake up call?

How many tickets like that are handed out at a national? a few friends of mine kids got nailed this year for this stuff and it wasn't cheap to do the court, lawyer and such.

You have to be wrong! The media ALWAYS brings news in the right context and with the most accurate facts!

It was announced at the GNCC that a national will be held there next year on August 16, however, they did the same thing the year prior, so I will believe when I see it.

+1 on the last sentence? RacerX was doing some Chad Reed style tweeting Friday with pictures of the track.

It looks like at least some of the officers were in plain clothes. I'm surprised word didn't get around by Saturday that plain clothed officers were wandering the pits handing out citations.

The whole schedule will be announced soon, but in the meantime, I would plan on being at Glen Helen on May 24, 2014, and in Crawfordsville, Indiana, on August 16, 2014. There's a pretty awesome track built by Marc Peters that's coming together well out there...

So only 6 arrested and 55 citations for under age drinking and drunkin disorder makes everything ok how?

UpTiTe, it doesn't make everything okay, but there needs to be some clarity, like the fact that some of the citations were for underage tobacco use, and it wasn't a "motocross" race. "55 arrests" makes it sound like there was some kind of motorcycle riot, when only six people were actually arrested over the course of a weekend.

Does this mean that Hangtown will no longer be the opener? Not a big deal if it's not, I can be happy to even have a national close to me, but being the first round has been pretty cool.

Its still an acceptable number no matter how you look at it and is a huge black eye for offroad motorcycles as a whole.

I must have missed the part that DC said it was "ok"...might as well blame dye edison for all the bad elements in dirt bike racing.

They didnt even mention the part about the six dirt bikers that donated their winnings to unicef...sheesh.
