Friend let me take his 2014 kx450 for a spin (10 laps later I gave it back) HOLY cow ! Such a fun machine, never thought I'd want a bigger bike but after one lap I was clearing jumps in 2nd that I would have to be in 4th or 5th with my 250f. Granted that is probably the difference in 200 more cc's but the air forks never bottomed out over bigger jumps and handled so good. After going back to my 250f I've been considering a 2013 or newer 450....Whistling Yay or nay ?

I'm starting to become attracted to a 350sxf - but a 450 could be a cool bike as well!

I loved my 450F. If I had the funds, I'd have another one but since the old ball and chain thinks I have too many hobbies, I'm only allowed one bike. The newer KX bikes look awesome but I'm curious to hear what the owners have to say about the little things on the bike. I've heard a couple of people say Kawi cheaped out on some things and need replacing as soon as you buy it. Not sure exactly what though.

I'm a vet guy so I like how the 450 lets me be "smooth" (lazy). 450's work for me. Sounds like it works for you too. Only thing left to do is speak with your wallet.

There both a blast to ride. 250f is a blast to ride if you want to rap it out in high gears but then with the 450 you have the power when you need it and like you said you can jump jumps in 2nd gear and even clear jumps that are tough with a 250f. I say go for it man.

I'm 6'2" and 225. Love my 450. I've tried several times to give 250 2 strokes another chance, but they just beat the crap out of you. At 38 years old, i appreciate the silly smooth ride and power down low.

Wait a sec, did I just enter a parallel universe? One where 450s are actually being praised on Vital?

Well I just got to ride a new KX 450f and put the white map in and it totally clanged how that thing works it was more dare I say 2 stroke like .I don't really like most 450's chugging tractor type power band's but I like the KX power band with the white coupler. .

I love 450s to ride , much more than 250f , ride 4th and even 5th gear 1/2 to 3/4 throttle going just as fast as everyone pinned in 3rd everywhere ,not as hard on the enigine , smoother , and more fun , for me anyway , Smile

i would like to try one. i like my 250f but i also like the thought of not revving the crap out of it. i know guys with 450s getting 100 hrs (yz-kx)and not touching a thing. all low rpms like you said. the honda reviews seem good for me,smooth and good handling with a light feeling. how many hours are people getting out of those crf450 valves now? the 15 looks awesome if it proves reliable. 14 left over would be good too,but i heard tranny issues?
