I'm in Alabama Tuesday through Friday for the 2017 Honda CRF450R intro, finally going to swing a leg over the new machine! Anyhow, we just got done with a tech/intro dinner and overview a bit ago, so myself and Joe Carlino put together a quick overview video, plus snuck in the MSRP and dealer release date... But you have to click the video... Tongue

Any idea how much more expensive those forks are for Honda? Could other brands do the same thing? A kit level forks but without the coatings?

Is there a release date and MSRP set on the bike's with electric start?
Pretty cool those a level suspension kits

The price for the bike is 9690€ in Finland and you get the electric start for free with the bike if you buy it before 28.2.2017. The electric start kit is 929€ and the battery is not included.

That is what i understand. I really hope that i get to try one.

The 2017 CRF250R was released about six weeks ago or so, and it's the same as the 2016 model. The 250 will get an overhaul next year to mirror the 450.

The electric start is an optional part and not a separate model. If the bike comes with it already equipped, that's up to the discretion of the importer or dealer.

Honda always staggers their 250 and 450 releases, 450 first with 250 updates the following year.

Will the 450RX get those same forks-but with off-road valving ? Please say "YES"!

That's what we were told last week at the Honda meetings I was at in Vegas. RX will have softer suspension, off road oriented mapping, 18in rear tire, side stand, larger 2.2 gallon (plastic) fuel tank, estart AND kick start included.

That's sweet!

I wish they'd dump the duel exhaust...but this will likely be my next bike when I buy in '18 (I just bought a KX450).

Actually, the 250X was introduced in 2004, and the 450X first launched in 2005...

That's debatable. ML's tests/reviews have been pretty spot-on IMO.

Very exciting!

After being a Honda guy since I was 8 years old (1988), I haven't been on red since 2010...I'd love to buy another Honda.

I hope the RX is as good as it should be...

Will this finally be the fork that forces KYB to step up their 10 year old SSS game????

I hope so. I think it's pretty sad the best fork on a production bike is 10 years old.

I'm suprised they didn't raise the price more, but I ain't complaining. It'll probably help Honda steal some sales from KTM.

Lemme help: "the forks exhibit typical Honda/Showa midstroke harshness, you will need to add a tooth to the rear sprocket, and you can buy Honda's programming tool from your Honda dealer. We think the quality is great, the plastic causes your boots to get stuck on the radiator shroud, and we wish it had KTM's hydraulic clutch and brakes. The bike still needs to go on a diet to be in the same league as the KTM and the optional electric start will add gurth. We will see how it stacks up against the other 450s in our shootout."

I eagerly await to see how many of these sentences make MXA's review. They are like a broken record.

ML, is there anyone down there who would honestly know if the inventory and parts availability issues are still a problem for this bike? Or have Honda gotten that figured it by now? I'm sure they have been getting after it in Japan to overcome that concern for a few months now...

Are you still getting heckled over those photos from July? Wink (Was that Keefer on the bike that day?)

Do you really need to update something that's still awesome, 10 years later? Sometimes, it's better to just leave something alone, than change for the sake of change. Or, in '18, KYB brings out their new fork, and leaves Showa saying "Wtf?", and their head engineer committing Hari Kiri, again.
