Thanks for the info! Any idea on the two strokes? I'm assuming the 250 and 300 are going to stay the same since the 250 SX didn't get the updates.

Yea the 250/300 are unchanged. There is a new engine on the way for 17.

Pffft, still not as light as this 4-stroke. Look how easily Scott is carrying it around.

Seriously though, remember the days when this was considered a good off-road 4-stroke.

Yep, I'll be racing pro again. Can't believe the start of the series has been pushed back three months. Sorry for the thread hijack, back on topic! Haha

It was a tank but they were almost indestructible. I remember taking a XR400 to the local MX track, that was the worst track experience in my life. Blink

That stinks...I had my eye on a 2016 300XC this year, thinking they were getting all the goodies as the four stokes.

Now I have to decide if I want to wait a year or just buy a 450 XC.

For some reason I'm on the fence about the 350...maybe its my "the 350 can't win in the 450 class in America" that is clouding my thinking...but I just keep thinking for four extra pounds why not just get the 450?

I haven't ridden a 350 though, so maybe it feels like a 250 (weight wise) with the power closer to a 450?

I'm hoping by this fall I'll have set aside enough coin to drop $9K on a new bike...then it will come down to which one, and with so many choices it makes my brain hurts . BUT that is a FUN problem to have.

All the new bikes are so dang good though...I should probably just close my eyes, spin around 10 times, and which ever one I bump into first is the one I buy.

We got the specs today for the cross counrty bikes and the XC line gets the new SX frames and engines. 223, 226 and 230 are the weights for the 250, 350 and 450. That makes the XC's as light or lighter than most MX bikes. At 226 that 350 is going to be a off road weapon. XC's have a bigger tank, 18 rear wheel and a sidestand. The 350 is a 6 speed vs the SX 5 speed.
Thanks Donnie....
Better be sure your "put my name the list for a new 350 XCF" notepad is large enough to accommodate all the upcoming requests.
How much to be the first for a test ride at the Grahams KTM Demo Days?

Honestly, the 450 is more power than 90% of people need while the 250 leaves something to be desired for some of the bigger guys. The 350 is a 350. It's the happy medium for those that fall into that category. More power than a 250, but maybe not as much power as the 450 which decreases the chance of wrecking yourself.

I'm with you there on the 450's making more power than most of us will ever need...one advantage of a lot of power (more than people need) is that it can make up for a lack of skill and endurance (which describes me to a T)...in certain situations...in that they can be ridden a little "lazier" and you can still go fast.

I'm on off road guy, so my perspective is a little bit different. There are a TON of two strokes in off road...and they make enough power for all but the most wide open races...I can blow by guys on 300cc two strokes and 250cc two and four strokes in the wide open stuff on my 450. So I really like all that power as it translates to acceleration and even top speed (without losing any bottom through gearing). I do give up some on the more technical sections of trail, though, from the added weight. But with the new KTM 450's so dang light (I think my YZ450 is mid to high 240's lbs...where apparently the new 450xc is 230 lbs) it seems that would eliminate some of that disadvantage. (there is obviously more moving parts in a four stroke motor than a two stroke motor so they still don't like to turn as good).

I've also been told I ride my 450 to much like a two stroke (I shift it to much)...so maybe I'd feel right at home on the 350? Which is also why I was looking at a 300 two stroke. (I've already blew enough money on a 250 four stroke, so I'll pass on one of those).

So much to take into consideration...and, since I don't have any experience on a 350 and only a tiny bit of experience on a 300, a whole lot of speculation and guessing and assuming.

for a fun bike to ride, race in the tight stuff, the 300. for an open bike hauling ass across the desert, i think the 350 would be killer.

i'm in the "450 is just too much" group, i don't like riding them anymore.

i'm the same way..... i have both a 350XCF and a '15 300XC. both bikes are so close i could be happy with either one. the 350 is definitely my weapon of choice on the track and i like it only slightly more for faster desert riding. the 300 gets the nod on gnarly mt goat type single track (by a slight margin). the 350 SX/XCF motor is about the most 2 stroke like 4 stroke i have ever ridden in terms of snap/throttle response.... it is literally the fraternal twin to the 300. but if i could only have one..... i'd be happy with either one. both are fantastic "jack of all trades" bikes.

450s are fun on the mx track but wear me out everywhere else.

I have the xcf-w version of the 350. The motor is deceivingly strong. Smooth and revs quickly. Pulls pleanty hard down low. And where on a 450 you would have to shift up a gear for the next corner, the 350 revs out much higher. 58 hp on theh 2016 model is insane. The big plus is lack of crank mass compared to a bigger bore. I still like my 150 over the 350 for the tighter stuff.

If you've never ridden the 350 you should, the motor is about perfect, just like the 300 two stroke is.

I'd be really surprised to hear non-pros having a complaint about the motor. Nothing the right wrist won't fix either!

I'll add to what's already been said here. The 350 is and amazing all around bike. I'm still amazed how they are able to get an engine this reliable when it LOVES to be ridden hard. I've done a lot of rolling start drag racing with 450s and I've surprisingly pulled a lot of them. The ones that I'm neck and neck with I'll pull them on the top after they run out of gears. With stock gearing on my sxf I've gps'd it on semi hard dirt and max was 97 mph. When you get tired the midrange is really smooth and easy to cruise at a fast pace. These are my thoughts on the bike but yours may be different so try and find one you can actually throw your leg over first. If that's not possible and you have to roll the dice and buy it blind, I'm pretty positive you'll not regret it.

I'm riding the 2015.5 FE 250 and the ergos are awesome. The 350 is to be the same/similar chassis and a new lighter motor. This bike will be beyond awesome.!!

I might just have to upgrade next yearSilly

The 350 revs out higher while the 450 forces you to shift up all the way, which makes the 350 easyer to ride. Don't worry about the power. If you miss some, just hit the throttle harder.

Titan- I've got the 350sx and it has the cylinder works 365 kit on it, which moves the power down into the mid range, like IMO should have been what the 350 was supposed to be. It actually feels like a small 450 now, just the right amount of power. It truly is, the perfect power now.

I agree with everything written here. I also have a 300 and a 450. The 450 is for sale though and Ive got a new 250sx.

One important thing to keep in mind, the 300 has a considerably lower cost of ownership, and they require a lot less maintenance per hour ridden. You can literally gas, air filter and go. The tranny oil last 20hrs or more if you don't hammer the clutch.

I love 4 strokes as much as the next guy, and I'll buy another when a 6spd 450 is finally available.

300's also hold their value A LOT better!
