2016 CRF450R

I have a dealer that quoted me $8000 Canadian ($5900 US) OTD for a new 16 CRF450, that's $4000 less than getting a new 17.

I'm a Vet intermediate rider on a good day, so stock power would be enough just suspension work would need to be done.

Any vet riders with a 16 out there? how much money did you have to spend to get the bike to your liking minus motor mods?

Thanks.

A suspension revalve is under $1000. If you don't mind air forks, go for it. I used Factory Connection and found a setup that works great for me.

Im a slow vet rider and I love my 13. All I did was FC revalve and a Ron Hamp remap.

I have a 2010 crf450.. Bought it Used but never riden ( literally brand new) 2 years ago for 3800. factory connection revalve did wonders for the bike. I go fine on it. vet B rider. A 2016 with suspension valved and sprung for you will be a dam good bike. Unless u need the latest and greatest I say go for the 16.. Pretty sure Alessi and friese are running 2016s for the 2017 super cross season.

Same situation here... minus the Ron Hamp work. Happy with the FC revalve.

Only thing is, I believe that the ours have the PSF1 forks and the 2016 has PSF2 forks . I dont have first hand knowledge of the difference between the 2.

I have one, it's going bye bye for a 17 since I work at a dealership and they want me on the new stuff to help sell and support our product.

Fork revalve is a must but everything else is ok. Yes, power isn't very exciting but that isn't a major problem. The power is lacking compared to other 450s but it's not like it is slow. Putting the power down to the ground is easier with the Honda which is nice.

BTW, I'll be 41 in Feb. I race the 30+ A and 40+ A classes.

I would take that all day long. Use the saved money to buy a set of spring forks from a 2013 Honda CRF250 or similar and send the whole suspension package off to your favorite suspension shop. Put the air forks aside. When it becomes time to sell the bike for something newer.....put the air forks back on and sell the spring forks separately. Advertise the bike as having brand new suspension and you will come out close to even on the forks.

The bike is awesome and I personally love it.

the 16 Honda is a great bike and if you put the 4k in it you will have a much better bike than a stock 17, like others said get a good revalve or find a set of spring forks , a pipe n mapping, some good race fuel, oversized brakes and the bike will be AMAZING...

For $4000 don't let the air forks scare you. I'd take that deal all day and gives you plenty of wiggle room to get it right. I actually just got a 16 crf250 because of a good deal as well and I am happy with the tac air forks on the 250.

Solid bike, turns well, engine good where you use it most low-mid. Agree forks not so good. Race tech spring conversion kit $500.

I HATE AIR FORKS! But I am picking up a 16 450r soon
My mate (had...now has a 17) 16 CRF 450, he had suspension done by FC...I had a ride on it, the forks were magical

Alternately, I wonder if the 17 forks will fit on a 16? (be a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a A-kit)

I just picked up a 15 to try. Hated the forks so put some 2012 CRF450 springs on it but haven't ridden them yet. From coming of 250f's for years there is plenty of power for me. My whole point was wanting a "slow" 450 to see which I like better.......

Remap and pipe (single). Power is sorted then. Gear it lower 1 tooth to keep the space between 2-3 closer and shortens the swing arm a touch.
Revalve front and Skf fork seals and a better front tyre. Type F ATF in the gearbox for better launches. One of the best bikes.
You will love it

I have an 2016 CRF450R. I race vet intermediate in Quebec. I added one tooth to the rear sproket and used almost only thirt gear and sometimes 4th. Event tough on the scale is not the lightest bike it feel really light and easy to move around. The power, because it's not the most powerfull, doesn't rip your arms off. I did put the showa forks and shock from a 2014 CRF250R with valving and correct spring for me and really changed the handling of the bike. If you don't ride/race on really rough track you won't mind the air forks but on rough track or hard landing they were not my cup of tea.

Mine is for sale with 16hours on it if you are from the Montreal area.

They do, and they cost $2,000

Great frame, ergos and stock mapping. Terrible forks, mellow engine and the rebound adjuster on the shock is a terrible design. Other than that I loved my 15
