Well as of this year, I have been off the bike for almost a couple years, mostly due to injury and work. Now that I have settled down and got my finances strait, I'm looking into buying a new bike this upcoming year. My question is, how does the new 15-16 yz 450 handle? I've heard good things, but have not had a chance to ride one. I'm also considering the new KX 450. Any insight would be appreciated.

I apologize if this has been discussed? I looked through about twenty pages before. I gave up.

I have a 14 YZ450 and love it. From what I understand they only have gotten better. Excellent engine and amazing suspension.

rode the 16 450 2 weeks ago , very tall , felt well balanced , engine was really nice , only issue i had was it being a little vague on front end fell , but nothing some set up changes or different offset triple clamps couldn't fix .

Been on 16 model 2 weeks and its really good. Balance is great and much better than previous years. Softer rear, harder front(springs) with new 25 offset makes bike stable and turn sharp. I havent found vague feeling others have talked about. Engine been hard hitting previous years but now its smooth and linear from bottom to top. 14-15 models you could get also better balance using longer rear shock link/ more support at front forks.

Did test also Kawasaki 450kx 16 but didnt get feeling of front. Maybe it was just small setup detail on new airforks but got same feeling with KTM new airforks. Im sure they are both great bikes but Yamaha yz450f is rock solid both chassy and motor.

I rode the 16 this weekend. It is an amazing machine. I am 170lbs so the forks, as amazing as they are, would need to be sent off. I've always ridden yz250f's (currently 2015) because I think 450's are stupid fast. I would rather feel like I'm riding aggressive on a 250f then conservative on a 450f. With that being said, the power was super smooth and manageable and for the first time I actually felt like I would enjoy owning a 450f.

If you can get an amazing deal on the 15 I would put the savings into making personal adjustments to fit you vs. getting the 16.

at the races last weekend talked to a couple guys with 16's. Seems the trick is to put the 22mm, 2014/2015 stock clamps on it. Depending on your weight the rear spring on the soft side. These guys put 22 mm clamps on and went to the stiffer rear spring, same as 2014/2015. So, basically made it a 2015! haha

Which link and what length? The JGR seems temping and at $280 it's not bad. Ride engineering one as well at $240.
