A buddy of mine wanted to do a build and started out with a 2014 and got everything needed to make it look like a 2015. Just about everything you could do to make this thing look factory was done. From wheels to just about everything Works Connection offered. Other than triple clamps this thing is ready to rip.

With help from the guys at PCP Motorsports, Ryan at Works Connection, TCR Wheels, Dunlop and Motopro Graphics, this thing came out sweet.

Triple J over at PCP Motorsports was also a big help with getting everything started and helping with the actual build. I was lucky enough to help with the build and got to see first hand how easy it was to make the '14 look like a '15.

A bunch of photos from the build:

If you would let me have sex with your bike, I would. If she was walking down the street and I honked my horn and then she got in and I rode her I would pay money.
I like the graphics too, do you usually ride under the influence of that substance?

What is her name?

I apologize in advance I'm just joking

For real though nice bike, its tasteful and not too loud but its definitely sexy. I like the wheels.

Did the 2014 air filter work in the 2015 air box?

Do the new fork guards just bolt on to the older forks?

Its a space for the tuning fork logo, which was added after these photos were taken.

Yes they mount right up. Easy part to swap out.

It is. Although the airbox is a different shape, everything mounts perfectly. Same airboot as well.

There's no difference between the subframes. The 15 airbox bolt right up exactly as the 14 Airbox. $90 is all it takes to make it look like a 15. Stock that is....

Damn You!

Looking at that build made me realize I wont be happy with mine until I do the airbox.

My restyled kit looks ok, but the airbox does not look right.

So, when I'm done, I'll have

2006 yz 250 (Eric Gorr 295)
2008 yz 250 f forks revalved
2007 yz250f rear ti spring
2009 yz450f swingarm

It will be so light, I'll have to strap it to the stand to keep it from floating away.

A friend of mine is asking about the plastics. Did you buy them OEM or is any other brand like UFO?

Cool. In the middle of a YZ250 build myself, will be getting the '15 plastics, and SSS fork and shock to go on a steel framed '03.

I ordered the restyle kit, but for the 2015 airbox conversion, I went oem. WHY? Price. The oem sidecovers (rear plates) are 17.02, each. Acerbis 2006 side panels are 38.99 for the set.

The rear fender, 2015 is 38.00. 2006 rear fender, Acerbis, is 21.00. That is more than aftermarket, but not much. Yamaha's oem plastic has always been priced low and it fits perfectly.

For the front fender, Yamaha changed the mounting bolt pattern when they updated the fender, so I'll use my restyle to avoid having to redrill.

The aftermarket plastic sucks, in comparison to oem. Its always off...either in mounting spots or color. Never quite right. Good enough, sure, but not right.

Anyone have a cost on all the parts needed for the 15 conversion.
Im in Australia and the shops don't have a clue when they can get the bits or pricing.

OEM on everything except the front fender.

Like rcannon said, the OEM stuff fits WAY better and all the grommets and spacers fit better.

The front fender is a UFO fender, the holes don't line up on the 2015 OEM fender.

I have always used OEM stuff and the discount I get makes it even more of a no brainer. The after mark stuff fits like crap and doesn't last nearly as long.

Tell your buddy to spend a little more dough and go with the OEM stuff.

My total conversion for the 2015 parts was 198.00, plus shipping. Airbox was 98.00..panals 18.00 each. Some misc hardware...rear fender 38.00.

The airbox is the costly piece, and we wont see the aftermarket make that, right?

Whats even more awesoem is the airbox is probably not as good as it was, but it is pretty!

I highly doubt an aftermarket company would make it.

Not to mention, I would want OEM so I know everything seals properly on the air boot.

For those that done have a 2015 and want the look, this conversion is super simple and cheap.

I did an internet search and found a list. The odds and ends are cheap, so I ordered them. Things like rivets and nuts....I ordered a few extra...just because i do that..But here is the list I borrowed from someone else. Hopefully its accurate. I cant picture where the rivets go, but they were cheap enough.

The airbox is on backorder, so it might be a while.

I will tell him. Forgive me if I put some advertising here, but my buddy Antonio Navas is the team owner and fmx'er of the Freestyle Motocross team InsideFMX, who happened to be jumping with Pastrana in a TV show promoting the Nitro Circus in Spain:

I just did this last year and loved the bike. It just snapped a rod and destroyed the motor. I have a set of forks with the triple clamps and front brake caliper I'm thinking of getting rid of if interested.
