I wonder about all the talk about the 2013 CRF450R having an hydraulic clutch.

It's been on factory bikes since 2009-2010 and could have been added years ago. Why are guys so sure it's coming on the 2013? Trust me, I'd love to see it myself.

Add some actual intelligence to your posts, instead of just being snarky all the time. That'd be new. But feel free to not wait until 2013 to implement this. Wink

Paid $198 bucks for a magura hydraulic clutch not sure why that would be a deal breaker for anyone buying a bike.

I do not think we will see alot of changes to any of them. Budgets are low so just a few tweaks here and there. And I bet the Yamaha YZ 250 two stoke does get NG

i rode an 11 crf 450 back to back with one, it does work good. But its a different story when they come stock made for the bike. The aftermarket Magura for that bke, and the ones on the stock ktms have a definite different lever feel

I've seen pics of the CRF clutch as well. Don't think Yamaha is due for a full refit yet since that model just came out in 2010. Suzuki has been with the same basic bike since 08 -- mxer613 did the new frame and dual injector rumor mentioned above come from a reputable source?

I think you might be confusing the displacement rule with this.

The AMA should do what's best for racing while the OEM's should do what's best for its company. When they decide to get in bed together bad things will always happen.

Maybe they will turn the rest of the bike backwards to match up with the motor?

Yamaha's revolutionary new YZF, where the steering is now controlled with your arsecheeks, and your hands hold onto the rear fender Grinning

I dont think that the BNG statement is going to be too far from the truth. Especially from Yamaha.

And as for Honda going to a hydraulic clutch, they have alot to fix on their current clutch set up before even thinking about adding hydraulic operation!!

I'd say we already know what the 2013 KTM 450 is going to look like.

Just like the 2012 1/2 "Factory Edition" minus the orange frame and a few other do-dads.

Good, but not as good. You still have the actuated leverage arm that makes feel a little vague. A factory installed unit has the cylinder mounted to the side case, directly pushing on the rod. Factory kits are just a little bit better.

The Honda may or may not have one, but I have no idea why people think because it's in the Japanese nationals, it will be production. The Japanese Nationals is their test bed for parts, not pre-production units.

well they've basically looked the same for long enough, including the YFZ (2 years used to be the term limit on design, then it went to 3, then 4, and now 5 and 6). the only mfg keeping the lights on late is KTM and maybe Husquavarna, and look how far KTM has come as a result. if it's the budget causing the issue, then get out of the business altogether. i mean, that is what you are here to do - make machinery. either do it, or don't, but stop repressing the same bikes from Japan. what happened to radical new spy photos? remember the 1988 YZ line, or the 1990 KXs, the 1993 CRs, the 1999 KXs. it shocked people to see those bikes. their was major wow factor. now the KX line looks like my last bike, a 2000 CR 250. same frame style, same shroud style. and btw, the shrouds all look incredibly boring except for the KTMs and Huskys. let's get back to radicalized, futuristic design! Husky and KTM are leading the way here, and i really hope their sales begin to eclipse that of the Japanese brands. we want thin, super light, aggressive looking bikes - that means all new frame geometry, new tank, deeeefinitely new shrouds, new number plates, the whole enchilada. either do it or just focus on cars, seriously.
