Hold the spark plug and ground yourself with other hand on the engine and have a buddy kick it over real fast. U will know right away if the spark is weak or strong.

That bike is doing you a favor by not running. It is one eval handling machine.....

Check the timing, I had an 07 450 and spent loads of time and money changing the Box of tricks and other electrical stuff until we found a nut deep in side that was attached to the crank had came loose and was throwing the timing out just enough to fire but not run

My bet is the cdi is junk......my '07 almost killed me when the cdi puked.
Early models had an issue with the plug cap cracking and arcing also.
Start it in the dark.....if that's the issue you'll see it.

The engine is mounted to a go kart.

I'm not joking when I say hold on to it and kick it over. That's how I check them. If it doesn't even make u jump then u are on the right track. If it hurts a lil then the spark is strong enough. Now whether or not it's on time another question.

Yep that's weak spark. It should make u jump. Ever been shocked by a spark wire on a car? It should be 15000 volts buddy. In ur mouth would've been a real negative surprise if the spark was strong
