There is a guy on craigslist who's looking to trade his 02 KTM 250 for a modern 125. I've already contacted him and he is interested in my 2002 RM 125 and would be ok with a straight trade. I'm curious as to how good of a bike is the 2002 KTM 250. I love my RM and it rides on rails but my 6'2, 195lbs ass could really use a bigger bike. Thanks in advance.

The 02 SX had a hard hitting motor (not as hard as the 03 model) with pretty bad suspension stock and turned like a truck compared to an RM. The 02 EXC had a mellow motor (too mellow for me), softer bad suspension and handled the same as the SX.

This from a guy who's had many KTM's - 76 Mc250, 86 250 EXC, 99 200 MXC, 02 125SX, 04 250SX, 06 250SXF, 08 200XC, 12 250SX.

Yeah I'm not sure If I'm going to do it. I just rebuilt the motor and got springs for my weight on my RM. Maybe if it was a different model 250 I'd do it, but I'm probably going to pass. Thanks for the quick reply.

Appreciate it guys. Now if it was a YZ I'd be all over it. I do love my tiddler. So what I look like an rabid ape on it, I always have the biggest grin when I'm riding.

Actually not a bad bike if you do some work to the forks. Monster motor...it pulled the other 250's that year. It's solid and super reliable...a little quirkly handling but you can get used to it and have a lot of fun with all that power. Clutch is awesome, pistons last forever, brakes are strong. No linkage bearings to get sloppy or have to grease. I had a 125 and 250 SX in 00, 01, 02. The '00's were my favorite (I liked the fatter feel over the slimmer 01+) but KTM would of been further ahead to have kept using the 99 conventional forks for about 5 more years.
