I've seen several people talk about this and can't get clarification on what part I need. I seen the 05-07 airboot is less restrictive but not sure if people are talking about the air box or this rubber boot to the carb. Pic below. Is that the correct part?

That's the rubber intake. I believe the part is the bit which bolts to the airbox. It has the cross hatch pattern on it. Pretty much the rubber part on the other side of the carb. It is actually a separate part from the actual airbox.

You need the part that goes between the air box and carb, the rubber part.

Ok, so this part? Next question, does this bolt up directly to the 01 air box or do I have to get the 05-07 air box as well

It bolts on directly. I did it on mine along with countless other mods. PV mod, Carb swab, PC pipe and silencer, Rad Valve. What I got out of it was a bike that made incredible mid range power with no low and no top end to speak off. It was a resto project and my re entry into the sport after a few years off. The best thing about that bike is the way it corners, so easy and tracks so nice. After the carb swap I was told the next step was motor work, more port work, match the cases blah blah. I kept it as a trail/CC bike and picked up a stock 05 YZ125. The stock YZ walks away from the CR all day. I was blown away by how good the YZ was in comparison.

So in short, if you are going to start tweaking that thing be warned its a long road because each mod is a very minimal gain. I don't regret it because I learned a ton about tuning a 2 stroke but boy oh boy it was a long road. Good luck to you.

Thanks for the help. Same deal here, last time I rode mx was 04 so I'm gettin back into it. Got a smokin deal on the bike, so couldn't pass it up. Didn't know anything about the CR's until now and frankly I'm disappointed. Havnt had it to the track yet. I hope it isn't as bad as everyone says. It has all the other major bolt ons, so just looking for other things to get some pep out of it.

Looks good man. Don't get me wrong, you can make it work,it just never had the Revved out 125 feel that I like. Play with gearing as well. I have a like new PWK airstriker that I took off because i wanted more mid than the top you gave me. That carb gave it a bit more on top, IM me if you are interested.

Sounds good. Is that PV mod worth it or not. I read it barely makes a difference on the bottom

I think it was, although I didn't do the typical mod. I used the power valve flaps from the 02 125. It serves the same purpose.

I got it from Gorr, check this out.

07 air boot, Boyesen radvalve or you can open your rubber piece up to up more with a blade. 38mm Pwk carb. The Boyesen is quite a bit larger. If you really want to make it run the best it ever will throw a HPP cylinder with a 134 kit on.

I had a 01 cr134, no porting or anything, just jetted well, moto t vforce 2, pro circuit pipe and shorty silencer. It was not fast but was punchy enough for a begginer to have a blast on! Loved that bike!!!

I always rune 50/50 c12 race gas. My motor isn't set up as a high compression motor. Even on a stock motor i run 50/50 with today's trashy fuels I don't wa t to chance detonation.

The guys over at LCS racing took care of it for me. They pulled the plug out of the tps and used epoxy to block it up. Thing ran like a champ. The carb has all brand new internals and a brand new bowl. So its basically brand new! I'd love to sell it off so I can use the money for other Moto stuff! PM me.
