With the passing of Sharky I've been trying to track down a 2000 and 2001 GP season video... And even more specifically the 2000 Grand Prix opener at Broadford where Sharky and Reedy put themselves on the map...
Does anyone have any ideas where to find em!?!?!
Golden times in MX for sure... Some amazing careers worldwide gaining momentum and the sweet sound of two strokes... I wanna get them up so people can remember....

Boradford had a sketchy SX track there with rocks all over the place, and I did't really like the track that much.
Remember having goose bumps watching Andrew up front.
BTW, how cool looking was the the bike/fear combo Reed wore at Jan De Groot Kawasaki!!

Byrner was on a CR500, McFarlane on a KX500 built on a KX 250 frame (they were running numbers 87 & 88 although I can't recall which was which). I think first moto Byrner got the holeshot with Sharkey right behind, they run 1-2 for a while, then eventually Smets and Boeverts ran them down, McFarlane ended up 3rd.
Smets was on fire that day - 2nd moto he fell on the first lap and came back from nearly last to win and go 1-1.
I was trying to find race results - I think from memory that Sharkey ended up overall 3rd for the day but not sure, also I think Byrner finished somewhere in the top 10.
On the subject of two strokes, looking back at that race now it probably was evident that the demise of the two stroke was imminent. At the time the 500cc championship still meant something so you had the likes of Everts, Smets, Boeverts, Darryl King etc all competing, plus back then it was still full-on works bikes. I think the Yamaha factory guys were on YZM500's and Smets' bike was supposedly around 570cc. There were a few 500 two strokes in the race, but it was pretty obvious from watching that they were outclassed by the four strokes (which makes the rides by the Aussie guys even more impressive!)
If I recall right they had to change a lot of things on the engine such as coolant pipe entry & exit locations to get it around the frame. Rob Treywould? built it if i recall rightly.
I wonder where that bike is now days.
