20 GP's for next year.

It has been announced at the SMX Cup, the world championship will have two more rounds next year. Russia and Portugal were officially announced. France will host 2 GP's. One at Ernee and the Championship finale at Villars Sous Ecots.

20 GP's is a lot, but I don't think any of those are bad additions. Agueda is great, both tracks in France are great, and if the Russian GP is in the same place as the junior world championship then that will be pretty cool too.

I'd rather have like 16 rounds of mx and maybe six round of sx or something like that. Would be ideal imo.

sx jan-feb

mx mid march-september

20 rounds Unsure . Something between 12 and 14 is perfect. It's hard (for me at least) to keep interest after 14 rounds..

As an avid spectator & subscriber this is great for me (that's me being selfish) but for the racer maybe not so much.

Sweden also back in the calendar. No confirmation for Villars, but there's good chances there's gonna be a GP over there.

It might make it a long season. But the races are kind of stretched out anyway over quite a long period. I am pretty hyped up about this news!

Current provisional schedule only has one date as TBA, the final round on Sept. 17th http://www.mxgp.com/news/mxgp-2017-provisional-calendar

Wonder where on the schedule Russia & Portugal will fall.. Also, the second France race. Perhaps the final round will be the second France race, since they're be in Netherlands the week before..

Does Matterly Basin get taken off, due to it doing the MXDN?

Scotty, that's a great question..

Regarding Oct 1st showing MXdN TBA in USA.... Further proof of how much of a clown show this whole thing has turned out. They clearly just announced Matterly Basin as the MXdN track for 2017. My only guess is that they immediately removed Glen Helen from this list before they had Matterly confirmed. Also, I had heard talk of Charlotte having a small chance of getting the race instead of Glen Helen. But, as was announced, it will be in the UK. Hopefully they update the provisional calendar soon (in pencil, of course)

what is your actual point?

because the travel between Qatar - Indonesia - back to Europe for a National, then Argentina then Mexico and then back to Europe for a National is significantly more than the US travel schedule

and that's not belittling the amount of flying those guys do, because i certainly wouldn't want to do it.... but all this "only 20 races" is just BS and much tougher than people give it credit for

I like the idea of 20 GP,'s feel for the smaller to medium size teams trying to fund it though.
