Hey guys!
What started out as a simple offer to give my '06 YZ250 smoker to any young hotshot that would take me up on the challenge, has begun to gain a little momentum!
I saw that TCI YZ250R thread, drooled on the pics for an hour or 2, then started a new thread on www.mxforum.com offering to simply put my 2-stroke engine into anyone's 250F chassis. The new CMRC rules changed to allow 2 vs. 4 stroke 250's straight up for 2013. Finally!
Things have started to gain a bit of ground, with US rider Austin Howell signing up as a member on mxforum and saying he is game for the 2-stroke challenge in Canada!! I am also hoping to work with a young intermediate rider, Steven Anderson, who will enter the first couple of Pro Nats before heading to the Western Canadian Amateur Nationals!
First, the link that got me started on this.....Project YZ250R:

Then I started this thread on mxforum:

Finally.....gotta have a facebook page, too!:

Follow along on the adventure!! Gonna be old-school cool with a couple of fast young hotshoes. Couple of 2-stroke 250's in the back of a box van, camping at the track, me telling the kids "Back in the '80's when I raced.....Bob Hannah would ride until his bike ran out of gas, then carry a 50 gal drum through the desert to fill it back up!" .....it will be EPIC!!

I've heard a few pissed off local pros about the change to allow pros to race the 2-stroke in the 250 class. Same argument you see on here all the time. I think it's cool tho.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure last year the intermediate riders were allowed to race a 250 2-stroke in the 250 Pro/Am classes in order to give them a chance to run with some of the pros on 250 4-strokes.
Hope to see you guys running this bike at WCAN!
