Correct me if im wrong but i think on the small 2 strokes they only need 1 right? Ive never seen a 125 piston with 2.

I think I read that someone was using RM125 pistons in their YZ or CR? Cant remember which. The change was made because of certain motor mods and the RM piston was supposed to help that overall package.

The 1980 to 83 Honda CR125R came with a two ring piston. I know the 79 was single ringed. Not sure about other years.

Could seal a little better for a little longer. The rings also transfer heat from the dome to the cylinder walls. Then it transfers the heat to the water passages. The rings are sized the right thickness for the least drag and no fluttering.

I run a single ring Yz250 piston in my Rm250, as opposed to the twin ring stock setup, supposed to be a better combination

I prefer to use two ring piston in my KTM 150SX because it lasts almost twice longer than single ring piston and I don't notice any difference in power

The ktm sx models had one ring. The xc models had two. I have run both in my 200sx. I prefer the two ring as compression stays up longer. I also do not notice any loss of power. The reason they have one on small bore is friction and rebuilds interval is small. I would go with two if you can.

About 15 hours with single ring piston and 30 with double ring piston
