First, that Australian dude rides one during opening ceremonies, and then we hear that there is going to be a race for them at Glen Helen on the weekend of the national. Is it the faint aroma of hope in the air, or just a little whiff of castor oil?

I hear that San Bernardino ran out of money in the city fund for mosquito abatement.

Those of us that grew up on and like 2-smokes, understand that no one really cares whether 2-strokes make a come back or not. But, it is neat to see/hear/smell the occasional ring ding and see them get some modern day love.

Blendzall Green label.....Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! :-)

Just like it was the other way round in the eighties.

All it takes is a rule change.

Yes. But now it comes in a bottle instead of a can.

Green Label at Amazon, no less.

Until Honda or Kawasaki and Suzuki folds its/their hand and decides to play again we are just a side show attraction. A one time event at the big circus with a few backyard shows annually.

Sometimes the side shows garner big interest though.

Yeah. This isn't the first ever 2 stroke retro pro race. They come around every now and then.

The last few years , Washougal has had the " 125 dream race ".....and I gotta say it's a really cool event. There are a lot of guys who show up from all over the Western united states. They also have a 250 support class race as well. Some of you guys should mark it on the calender and make the trip!

It'll be a cool sideshow.

Sean Collier is also wicked fast on his KX500.

The four stroke nationals used to be a pretty cool sideshow.

And then it became obvious that they were redundant. Bring on the two-stroke Nationals.

My Kawasaki dealer, who has sponsored a certain "Junkyard Dog" in the Nationals flat out told me that Kawasaki was working on a new 250 2T motor and planning on putting it in a 250F frame for 2016.
I'm mot wanting to spread rumors but I can't help but hope for this to be true. I've been quiet for 3 months. can't bite my tongue any more.
After seeing the new H2 Supercharged bike this year.. I think anything is possible.

Putting my goggles on right now.. Fire away..

Seems like there are plenty 250's racing in mx2 up in Canada. Would be interesting to see what would happen if the rules were the same down here.

You better strap in. You asked for it. lol

But you know we have heard this on these boards for the last several years about every color, correct? Direct injection and all. Everyone seems to know someone who knows someone who knows a major brand is coming with a new 2 stroke. We've been holding our breath and are starting to turn blue. I can't help but doubt it will be any 2 stroke shake ups in the near future. We'd all be fools to continue to bite on the "I know a guy" stories....

How about calling it a support race like jeffro503 said instead of sideshow, throwback or geez retro?

Lol. Oh I know what's coming. I hate to be "that guy" but this time I hit Submit instead of deleting before I posted that. I probably wrote that comment 6 times over the last 3 months and never posted it. It got the better of me this time.. Pinch

Its funny how these conversations are so similar to 1970 when Japanese endure bikes were replacing BSA's, Nortons, and such for offroad use. Also, long travel suspension will never catch on since it makes the seats too tall.

If you go to any shop, you'll see offroad motorcycles are not a big deal anymore. Any manufacturer is trying to make money and the sales are for the four wheeled vehicles. What would you do? Spend 10 million developing a 250 two stroke where you might sell 10,000 or spend the same amount on a four wheeled soemthing and sell 100,000?

The races for the two strokes will always be there just as you'll find a race for your old BSA or Norton.

Every year one of these threads pop up with rumors of a new Kawi two-stroke, and every year I point it out to Kawi PR guys. They just shake their heads and laugh.

And the sad part about that is they are too stupid to see KTM kicking their ass.

Kawasaki PR guys hard at work....LaughingLaughing
