Well at least he wasn't out dropping acid, smoking pot, drinking 6 packs, getting in fights, going to parties like me and most the people I knew at 16 were doing. Is some pressure but man a chance of a lifetime-just don't know if he seemed happy though, but he was 16 so what does he know. Smile

i think my favorite is when the his rmz stopped running and a trackside interview with him asked why he was out of the race, and he said "i dont know i only kicked the bike 150 times"

instant classic. you have that clip bobby? i cant remember what mx track it was at. too funny though, you knew he was just upset and tired and was being brutally honest.

I think that was at Troy maybe? ...but there had been a couple of races that year that he had to kick 150 times. So I could be wrong.

Rookies will face the rookie challenges no matter what the age. Every young gun was in his shoes at one point in time. Some did better than him, some did considerably worse.

All I see this rule doing is:

1) I think pros will have shorter careers. The amateur ranks are going to get even more stacked with talent with guys waiting around an extra two years before they can turn pro. It's going to equal near the same amount of abuse on their body, and they're just going to have two years subtracted off their pro career.

2) Ensure nobody will ever touch Ricky Carmichael's record.

3) The talent pool is going to get so stacked. It may have a weeding out affect though. Either way, tons of olympic athletes are younger than 16yr old motocrossers.

What are the pros of this decision again???

*parents spending more money on products for a few more years which should boost the MX industry.
*kids getting an education (good thing, I can't believe they've been dumb enough to skip out on the books while racing)
