Over the past few months, and especially this month, I've seen a definite rise in the number of new 125cc 2strokes on local tracks. As an example, this Sunday I was surprised to see a few regular 450 riders I know, arrive at the track with new 125 2strokes on the back of their trucks. They looked to be having a blast on the track, you could physically see the enthusiasm in their riding.
It was good to see, and hope the rise of the 125 continues. It was just a few weeks ago I rode a friends 125. It had been a while, boy I'd forgot how fun they are!

I have to agree about the....Fun Factor. Nothing better than ringing the neck and bang'n gear's on a 125. Green, red and yellow may join in on the fun in the upcoming year's. This could get really good.

I have had my 2005 Yamaha YZ-125 for 12 years now. It is one of the best bikes I have ever owned. It is very fast, light weight, handles well, easy to modify, and so simple and inexpensive to maintain. I guess I was 125 before 125 was cool. I am "Old School" because 125's have always been in my garage since I was a kid back in the 70's. I am "wfo4ever"!!!

Broke this beauty in on Sunday, an absolute riot on wheels. Going slow is fun. Didn't think I would ever admit that.

The EMX125 class has definitely been a boost to 2-strokes over here in Europe. Here's a pretty cool YZ125...

I haven't seen many in my area, but I've been having fun on my friends 08 YZ125.

Even though I usually hate used bikes, I might pick up a basket case at some point and bring it back to life.

What year is that? I was drag racing during this era so I don't know much about them.

It seems that down here there is always a small two stroke population no matter where I go. Last week I had 2 young teens on a KTM 150 and 125 approach me in pits and ask how they could improve their corner speed since they saw me out on my YZ125. 2 weeks ago I showed this kid where his air screw was and how to kick his bike over without dropping his right elbow and hitting the throttle! They were good kids.

Later a dad of 2 young guys riding 250Fs stopped me as I was loading up. I heard "So you don't like fourstrokes?". I was like what? He was cool though, he was very complementary on my riding and just kept saying I would be even faster on a fourstroke. Told him my plan was to get a 250 smoker next year, he wasn't impressed lol. I guess everyone has their own agenda haha.

Anyways its always cool with the two stroke guys at the track as well. I have a lot of conversations with young and old riders talking about smokers and how much they love em. Definitely a good twostroke scene down here in North TX.

Are those the stock forks or did you do the SSS swap?

I have an 05 and I really hate the forks.

Race season has just started here in Michigan and we have seen more participation in the 125 classes than the past years, particularly this early in the season.

I sold my 2003 rm125 to buy my 2011 yz250. Really wish I would have kept that bike. Someday I'll have another 125

Well, there is a '73 125 Pursang and a '74 Super Combat tucked in the corner of the shop. Maybe this is the year to get them out.

Always liked the '83 YZ 125, last I raced the class with any intent. Great fun but not much competitive success.

Nothing more confident inspiring then holding a 125 WFO and clicking off 3-4 gears. Makes you feel like a pro until you look at the ground lol. Locally up here in new england in NESC there a lot of fast guy doing really good against 250f's and 250 2 strokes on new KTM 125's. If the bike is dialed and so is the rider you can win on them. I just traded my 16 TC125 for a 16 KTM 450 and i already miss it for its nimbleness. Gonna keep my 95 CR125 for ever. When she starts looking tired itll be restored again and sit in my man cave.

For someone as slow as I am, the only difference between a 125 and a 450 is how quickly I'll get hurt, and how expensive it will be to fix everything. I'm okay with being slow and feeling fast.

I picked up a 2017 KTM 150 this past weekend. Have been out of the sport for almost 10 years and wanted something I could work on myself and just have a ton of fun on. I also stopped racing on superminis so I never made the jump to a 250 four stroke anyway! I have a feeling 2 strokes in general both small and large are getting people like me back into the sport.

My son never really felt comfortable on his 2016 KTM 125 so I sold it and we picked up a 2017 YZ 125. I sent the motor to Terry Varner to perform his magic and the suspension to Factory Connection. He loves the bike and his lap times are better on the YZ. I just had to take a spin on it and I couldn't stop grinning. So much fun! I may have to buy a practice bike so we can shareSmile I'm hearing a lot of rumors about 2019 but we will see.
