Is there a place near Glen Helen to get race gas and whats the approximate price?

I'm looking for some 100 Octane that I normally buy locally but wont have time this week before driving down for the race.

Not interested in crazy leaded stuff that is $10-30 a gallon as it's for a stock 250F motor. Looking for a little edge on the elderly on 450's but not looking to waste a motor.

-thanks

I'm too lazy to explain why a really high octane fuel without additives isn't really helpful to stock engines...

There's a VP fuel station with pump available fuels in Corona, about 30 minutes or so from Glen Helen.

100 octane VP at the Arco next to Comp Edge at the top of Cajon Pass. I seem to remember it being around $8 /gallon.I ran it in my son's stock crf150r at Glen Helen and it ran terrible. Not saying that will be the case for you but after my experience and from what I understand it's common for stock motors to run worse on higher octane.

Yep arco next to competitive edge mx...VP100 on the outside pump...run it in my yz295...full Mx race version from eric gorr,..77hours runs great..also use it in my full GYTR motor 15' yz450...runs great.......even if u dont have a modded motor..the very least to keep.a clean top end mix 50/50 with quality pump (Shell)....90%of pump gas is load with ethanol...shit is garbage for performance orientated engines.....0.8 -1 grams of carbon build up on top of a piston/high reving...can possiable contributed to a failure...also changes the volume in the head above the piston...race gas in everything

The ethanol is why I use the race fuel. Did a piston yesterday after 30 hrs and the carbon came off with a light brushing.

It also feels like ithe pump gas is particularly bad in California.

Although I'd like to hear the details of what additives do to the combustion process to add power that octane alone doesn't do.

Please do tell...

Cali pump gas is real bad....i think alot of gas stations fail to add the additives, even though they advertise it on the pumps...one store owner i asked looked confused when i asked....Shell gas stations are descent so if im without race fuel...i use shell and just add it to my 1/2full race gas.....we have a gas station in vegas called "Rebel"..only a select few have 100pump..its (RocketBrand) which by reading the websites spec chart is very close to VP U4.4....so i use that alot.......stock or mod....just perfer the cleanest burning fuep i can get for $7-8per gal.....clean pistons, fair service hours...funny thing my pistons come out looking better then many of the guys who run Vp that i know...
