So, a buddy of mine got his uncles bike out of storage and it had vintage Acerbis enduro plastics and I didn't want him to destroy them so I was goofing around and installed the front fender, number plate and rear fender spares off my 07kxf. Looks kinda cool! LOL...

Yea this thing is straight out of 1995, which is when it was put away lol... it also has a Devol water pump guard and case saver. I took all the vintage trick stuff off so we can put it all back on when he's done riding it and I restore it. Amazing thing is after changing the oil, cleaning the air filter and lubing all the cables it fired off on about the 20th kick and now runs like a swiss watch! Oh, and the spark arrestor cracks me up!

87 kx250 was razor thin. Took a little getting used to.
It does feel thinner than my 250F actually. The interesting thing about this bike is the power, it's instantly fast. I have an 06 KX250 and the power is much smoother and slower. maybe cuz it's a powervalve motor? The 87 is on the pipe in a hurry.

The 87 had pretty good plastic the way it was. The front fender looks good, but that 06 rear fender just doesn't work.

+1 for experimenting, but I agree it doesn't look much better than 87 OEM. Those rad shrouds are so sexy.

The 87 had a pretty narrow power spread.

Thank you for not pluralizing the word plastic. Pet peeve.

I would love to ride that thing it looks supper clean for its age!

I also have a 2006 KX250 and love it. Would be cool to have the 87, 97, and the last gen, My last race bike was a 2000 KX250 and I am looking for a clean one right now to restore... the wife is going to love that, but, of well!

I wasn't as impressed with how the rear fender turned out compared to the front for sure. I just needed to get those vintage Acerbis off of there before they get broken, especially since they have the enduro fenders added onto them. I don't even know if you could find that stuff any more. What are you looking to spend for a 2k 250?

What was really always dumbfounding to me is how Kawasaki went from the very sleek and narrow 1987 design to the super fat and bulbous 1988 and up design. Totally backwards. What the hell were they thinking at the time??!!!
