Hey guys
Since we are all downloading these torrents form each other. I mean if its a SX we are downloading then 99% positive that we are downloading from a fellow mxer.
None of us want to wait for 5 hours for it to download so I am asking that we all set our upload speeds higher.
I set mine to 50 kbs. The stock setting was 20 kbs..
The faster we allow others to get info from us will in turn allow us to download faster. That is if we set our upload speeds higher.
That means less time for all of us to wait for the silly download and we can watch it sooner.

What do you guys think is a speed we should all set to??
50 kbs I think is a good number. If we all set to that or higher it shouldn't take longer than 10 minutes to download any race.

Thanks for playing.

i dont know if it helps or not

but once i start the download i set the upload speed to about 15kbs until the complete torrent is downloaded. once its complete i set it to unlimited

since the bandwidth of my connection is limited, it seems that if i run it unlimited before its downloaded, the two sides go back and forth sharing the bandwidth.

i didnt do it today because i left right when i started it. 7 hours later its still downloading
i just fixed it and it went from 1 hr to 10 mins to complete the dl

I'll shed some light on the subject.

Because most of the general public does not need a fast upload speed nor want to pay more than $20/month for DSL most of your connections are going to have a low upload speed.

For torrents you are downloading and uploading at the same time, so if you set your upload speed at max you are going to choke your connection. By choke I mean that even when you are downloading a file off the net you are sending out packets with the packets you are recieving, TCP/IP is a communication line going in an out. If your upload is going at 100% you are not going to be able to send though small packets back out while downloading and it is going to choke your connection and possibly down it for a few min.

Anyways all you need to know is that with torrents you need to find the right ratio. Setting your upload around 75% of your speed will give you more sharing capability increasing the efficiency of torrents and still allow you to download as fast as possible without negatively affecting your connection with choke. Find what upload speed you are getting by going to dslreports.com and use the speed test, then set you upload to 75% of your upload rate, if it still doesn't help keep going lower until is works, 70%, 65%, etc....
