3/8/2006 2:25 PM I realize this thread is about pictures, but I had to jump in with this...
I just happened to be in Cincinnati doing a gig one weekend in 2004, and after I had the lighting rig set-up I jumped in the truck & drove to Indy to catch the SX... I will never forget the roar of his hometown crowd when he got the holeshot in the main. That was surprising enough, considering his starts over the years, but to watch him run all 20 laps out front was an experience I'll never forget. That seemed like the longest 20 laps in the history of the sport! The crowd was in an absolute frenzy when he crossed the finish line, and his victory lap with his son was super-emotional. My touring schedule over the years allowed me to go to only 2 SX races, with the first being Anaheim 2 around '98 (Lusk outran MC). I couldn't believe how lucky I was to be a part of that event, and it's something that I don't think I'll ever experience again. Thanks Mike, and best of luck on your post racing career... ![]() |
