Has anyone played F1 2014?

Let me know how it is, I've been interested in it too. Are you playing with a controller or steering wheel? Car games don't feel right to me without the wheel.

i haven't played since F1 2011, but absolutely love that game. i use the Microsoft steering wheel and a stand i built using materials from Home Depot. definitely not a game to be played with a controller

I had F1 2012 on PS3. One of my favorite racing games ever. I have a gaming computer now, and no longer play it. Been thinking about downloading 2014, myself.

I actually use both. I have a PS3 upstairs and my daughter has one. I really liked F1 2013. You guys will like that if you liked the other games. You can download a track pack that comes with 80's and 90's cars.
I still haven't played 2014. I will let you guys know tonight after I play it.

Looking in my Steam library I was surprised to see that Iv'e put 60 + hrs and counting into F1 2012. Funny thing is that I'm not really into it as a sport, but yeah the Codemasters series is really quite addictive and well put together. With that said I don't really see too much point in upgrading every year automatically - that is unless you're a huge fan of the series and desperate for every small refinement and update.

Traded in Destiny over the weekend and decided to go ahead with F1. Not much of a COD guy anymore so that one can wait til it's cheaper. Only thing I'm not happy about with F1 is not having a steering wheel yet. I really like all the different things you can change to help with handling, I just need to figure out how it all works. I thought I was good after winning a few races in the career, then got online and got my ass handed to me. Those guys are about 3-4 seconds a lap faster than me everywhere, and I can't figure it out. I'll be buying a wheel online today since no stores in this lovely city of Eugene have one, so maybe I'll be a little better after that.

It took me a while on the other games to win a race. I learned you have to use the DRS and KERS every lap.

It'll take awhile before I'm any good at it. I went through a part of the career with the assists all turned on, and am just now getting to where I can finish a lap without running off course without them. Once I figure out the car setup for different tracks I think I can get a little faster. I like that it's challenging to figure out, not just a turn on and haul ass kind of game really. It'll keep me playing for awhile just for the reason of wanting to get better at it.

Thanks. I wanted to go with a three monitor setup but just did not have the room. I have a great time just firing up a racing sim and forgetting everything else.

You leave a fan blowing on your while you play too huh? What are the details of that set up? I would love to get into something like that.

That's sick, I wish I had a setup like that for racing games, and combat sims too.

Sorry haven't been checking here lately.

The rig is made by GT Omega. I replaced the seat with another one I got but the hot setup would be to find a real car seat with better back support at the junk yard. I like the Obutto rigs also. I hope to get the Obutto Revolution 3 some day but it won't fit in that space. The Obuttos also have all the setups for flight sims. They are basically a desk replacement with all the trays and everything. Pretty nice rigs. Expensive but nice.

The wheel assembly is a Fanatec CSW V1 and I have the F1 and BMW GT add on rims for it. The pedals are Fanatec also and they are the CSP V2. The side switch and button boxes are add on and made by Derek Spears Designs (DSD) The display is a Samsung 32" 1080p LED set.

Have it hooked to my PC via a HDMi cable and another running from the PS3.

Yeah I have to have the old fan going as I get a little worked up and get sweaty palms when racing :-)

I think that is about it. Any questions let me know.

Actually shocked more Vital members are not participating in iRacing. Racing is racing and every man has a deep seeded need to drive exotic cars on the world best tracks. I only do F1 tracks and the 3 F1 cars and my life is complete. Every F1 fan should hook themselves up. It is under 3k for triple monitors, high end computer, cockpit, and Fanatec rig. Well worth the price of admission.
