Which one would be the best to make an eastern off road ride?
I have found a good deal on each here in Atl. and wondering which way to go.

Of those two choices, I'd go with the YZ250.

What can I do to the YZ to make it woods worthy? Do I go with the heaviest flywheel weight? (I am old and don't want my arms flying off in the woods)
what other things can I do to detune it.
thanks

I would say heavy flywheel, Vforce ,Gnarly pipe .some barkbusters and an 18 inch rear wheel and you would have a great woods bike.

I agree with the above. I will say that the 18 inch wheel is nice, but not strictly necessary unless you're riding a ton of rocks/rock ledges. I would also reduce the preload a bit in the back end, soften up the compression damping at both ends, and tighten up the rebound damping at both ends.

My buddy (very fast woods guy) had Bonz at PC set his 04 YZ up with some good suspension and it turned out very nice. He also has a scotts damper, flywheel weight and a hydro clutch.

A hydraulic clutch. (no cables) a la KTM. I believe Magura makes the aftermarket units.

Isn't that the auto clutch that you can override with the lever?

Save your money, put a dampener, skid palte and pipe guard on and ride it...been racing an 06 YZ250 for past year and a half,,,all stock, no flywheel weight....
