I had a bunch of Suzuki RM250 parts piling up over the years and so I decided to build a dedicated single track/woods bike. This is not going to be a show piece as it is going to get hammered on. A lot of the parts that I am going to utilize are used and I am not going to spend a lot of time polishing them up, but I want a nice looking and good performing bike. Started out with a 2002 frame that I had. Frame was cleaned up and then powder coated a dark red color. Going for something a little different on this one.

Whoa! Red frame....I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

Will this build be using an aluminum tank?

And it's looking good. Great start.

No aluminum tank on this 'ol girl. This will be a singletrack/woods bike. I am going to put on a high capacity tank. Those aluminum tanks are pricey. I will be using them for a couple other upcoming RM125 and RM250 builds. This bike will not be a super high end finished piece. I am just looking for the parts and function that I need for a daily driver.

Got the engine built with a 295cc kit and a good 13oz flywheel weight. Should do the trick. Installed a used Rekluse EXP clutch off of my 2007 RM450 that I parted out. Installed swingarm and now re-valving rear shock to match forks.

Bike is going to be gorgeous!

Please consider doing a 125 MX with a red frame, would love to see how it turns out.

I was going to ask what size FWW you were going with, so, thanks for posting that info. I never used a FWW until a few week's ago and now I can say..... Traction Control, wish I would have done it sooner. Anyway, good look'n build.

We have a black framed RM250, a yellow framed RM125, and another RM125 undecided that are coming up. May do the other 125 with this color. I wish this bike was going to be more of a showpiece, but it is more of a budget build thrasher. It will still be done right, but on the MX builds I like to polish the swing arm, new pipe, all the little trinkets like colored engine bolts and polished cases etc.

Installed some older RAD wheels that I had. They cleaned up nicely. Installed Michelin Bib Mousse inserts and Pirelli tires. Also starting to get plastic fitted and installed.

I had a little time this past weekend and got some of the odds and ends done up. Here is a peak at the finished product. Installed Unabiker custom radiator guards. The front fender is RMZ450. The shrouds and side panels are custom cut, as I wanted them to look more modern and more like the RMZ. I still need to install handguards, get some jetting dialed in and get a good countershaft guard on it.

So it looks like you ditched the Lectron carb? You mention getting jetting dialed in.....

I had some fitment issues with the Lectron. I am getting the shorter version that should fit better, but I decided to use that carb on a new MX bike build I am going to start next week and I took the carb off of that bike for this one. This bike will stay within 6 to 9000 feet elevation all the rest of it's life so I won't experience the same benefits from the Lectron that I will with a bike that will go from 0 to 9,000. Plus this "woods weapon" build is more of a budget build.

Hey I’m buildings my 03 Rm250 into a woods bike.. I just sent my head to millennium to get it rebuilt and I’m getting my power valve geared for the woods to start.. I’m curious on what the difference in fly wheel weights between 11oz or 13oz or whatever weight? I’m trying to get some opinions on which make and weight to purchase? I’m also going to buy some vforce reeds. I have race tech springs in the forks and eibach rear spring on the bike just going to get my suspension guy to soften everything up for the woods. I’m looking into putting Magura hydrolic clutch on it (has anyone ever used one of these) if so any feed back?? I have a bigger tank I’m putting on it and I put some hand guards debating on buying bark busters still!?!? Does anyone have any input/suggestions on any other aftermarket parts or work I should do to it for a more woods friendly bike? Thanks

I tried a hydraulic clutch years ago. I like a cable pull better. I really like the Works Connection perch and lever for a super smooth, easy pull.
