So I picked this bike up today from craigslist, thought I was done with dirt bikes for a while after I sold my 07 CR250 (some of you might of saw the build)

Snagged this bike off Craigslist for $800 with a title, little more than I wanted to spend

Bike has a blown motor, unknown issue right now. Crank is locked up.

I plan on building this bike into a fun rider bike, nothing overly expensive unlike my last 07 250 which I thought was too nice to ride.

The build is going to consist of mostly used parts that I will buy off Craigslist and eBay hence the name "Craigslist Build". I have scraped up some parts so far and will post pictures of the process.

Basically just did the same with a 07 CR125 I bought. Just a fun inexpensive stock(ish) bike. Taking it out tomorrow for the first ride.

Worked on the bike a little bit today

Gave it quick hand scrub and hose down, but should have hit it with the power washer, she's super dirty

Pulled the motor out of the bike and popped the cylinder off. I was told the whole motor was junk (cylinder, cases, clutch etc) when I bought it but the cylinder looks good. Looks like the crank either blew a rod bearing or mains but it is locked up but the cases look good.

Also starting to do some scrubbing on some parts

Starting to acquire some parts for the build.

Got some Raptor pegs, Renthal 996 bars, PC built shock from 13' crf 250, 280mm rotor, and a wheelset

None of this stuff is new but will work great since this is a craigslist budget build. Wheels set is A60s with Haan hubs and bulldog spokes

Still more parts to come and still deciding whether to build the motor I have or buy a complete motor, looking to the more affordable route. Trying to keep this build under $2k

Will the 13 CRF250 shock bolt up without any mods? Same eye to eye length as the CR125 stock shock?

Sweet. What are you going to use for forks? I couldn't get over how good the stock stuff was when I rode mine the other day. Although it is valved for 180lbs.

I'm going to ago against the grain and run 17' 250 SFF Air I believe, I'm not a super great rider so the air has never bothered me

I was surprised with the 07 actually. It's a little sluggish on the bottom. Seemed like it just need a decent port job and have the cylinder cut some to bump the compression. Honestly the stock suspension was surprisingly good.

I've also been wanting to try a set of Showa tac forks on there to make the bike even lighter. Can get a new set for $500 off a 16. Might end up doing it. Already got clamps for em.

Had my Frame and swing arm vapour blasted back to like a stock look. Starting to put it all back together now and get some bits for it. 2004 this one is.

Bike looks good Prosser70, for sure looks good blasted.

I spend some time cleaning the linkage and taking the casting marks and number off it. Linkage didn't come out perfect but good enough for what its for.

Started with this linkage

After Cleaning

Taking the casing marks off with dremel

Finished product after sanding and scotch brite

USPS guys just showed up, dropped off some used ICW braced radiators off eBay, they aren't perfect but will clean up nicely. Couldn't pass these up for $70 since mine are hammered.

Doing some test fitting to make sure everything fits as it should. The rear shock fits very tight but nonetheless it fits. Clears the subframe by about a 1mm. Radiators seems to be relatively straight also.

Also mounted up the Raptor pegs, I sure love them they are a work of art.

I'm in the air on whether I want to go with my PC clamps or pick up a set of Xtrig ROCS but for now the PC clamps are here to stay, will change out the lower bearing with a CR one to allow for more clearance.

Remembered I had old plastics from other bikes so I threw them on just for fun. I eventually will go with the 17' style front fender and # plate. Not sure what seat cover I'm going to go with, kind of like the OEM look.

Spent a little over 2 hours today shaving the guard mounts (upper and lower) off the brake hanger. Don't have fancy tools to get the job done but I make do with what I have. Used a file and a dremel to rough it, then used sandpaper and finished it off with scotch brite

Took apart the air box today, it probably hasn't been cleaned since 06' and filter was junk (people wonder why their 2 strokes blow up). Hit it with some gas to loosen up the crud and then soaked it in soapy bucket. Got it almost spotless, just need to replace the air boot seal and it'll be good as new.

Also tried to machine out the front brake line bracket with my XY vise and drill press, ended up wrecking 3 total due to cheap vise but managed to finish one with a dremel.

Got another piece to the puzzle, brand new 49mm SFF Air forks. New forks are 2.4lbs lighter than the 46mm KYBs. Threw some stickers on there that I had sitting around.
