Josh Coppins will make his Yamaha debut on his 'home' track near Motueka this weekend in the first round of the New Zealand Supercross Championships.

Defending champ Scott Columb, of Queenstown, is keen to defend his titles, but he is still recovering from a crash in November.

Yeah, I never raced there either. The only SX I raced in NZ was at Waikato or Tokoroa.

Coppins won the Lites class on a YZF250 and Luke Burkhart won the 250 class on his Suzuki.

did you go any good there? they dont run that round at taupiri anymore, i did a fmx demo the last year they ran it so I guess they got the timaru round to finaly replace it.

Would be great to have some spare acres to build a track on- with the amount of SX tracks around you almost think you could have your own national round if you made the track really good and in a readily accessible place.

I crashed there and didnt make the main. They watered the track between the woops and the little triple and i slip coming off the woops and thought i could still make the triple on my CR125!

Tokoroa was like a BMX track on steroids.
