Vital Video: Jason Lawrence

Jason Lawrence has always been one of those enigmatic riders. There's no doubt that he's blessed with tons of natural speed and talent, but in the past his drive and effort have frequently come under fire. No doubt it's in part to some of his old habits (like his fondness for entire boxes of Otter Pops as a race-day meal), or his sarcastic sense of humor, which often gets misinterpreted as being serious.

This year could, and by his own admission, probably should be a turnaround year for the fun-loving rider, as he's switched brands from Suzuki to Yamaha. He's moved from the troubled Rockstar Suzuki crew of '06 (where he's the only rider from that team who's not headed to Europe to race in '07), to the well-established Yamaha of Troy squad. And as you'll see in the accompanying video, he appears to be settling in nicely.

But one thing we definitely love about Jason is his candor. He'll generally let you know exactly what's on his mind, whether it's politically correct or not. And this time around, he's his own target, as he talks about his sponsor changes, his lack of results in 2006, and hopes for a better '07 with his new team.
