Top 10: Atlanta 450s 2

The pay's the same as every other round of the Monster Energy Supercross series, but we guarantee that Atlanta's one of the ones that everyone wants to put in their win bank. It's a big crowd, big fun, and big prestige. Let's see how the top ten fared.

Mike Alessi (Smartop MotoConcepts Racing) scored the holeshot.

1. Ken Roczen (Red Bull KTM) was in the right place at the right time, then dodged lapped riders and held off Ryan Villopoto to take the second win of his rookie 450 season.

2. Ryan Villopoto (Monster Energy Kawasaki) had taken over the lead from Mike Alessi, but missed a rut with his rear tire when trying to triple from the inside of a corner, and had to double instead. That allowed Roczen to slingshot by, and it was the kind of small mistake that has defined who wins and loses this year.

3. Ryan Dungey (Red Bull KTM) sizes up a landing in a rhythm section. That's his second-straight podium.

4. Kudos to Wil Hahn (GEICO Honda) for picking up a well-deserved fourth. He's made strides forward all season, and is starting to really show what he's capable of. Here he's dicing with James Stewart (Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing) during their heat race. Unfortunately, James went down in the main after losing the front end. That was costly to his title hopes.

5. The top Yamaha all season has belonged to Justin Brayton, who was fifth again this week.

6. Mike Alessi (Smartop MotoConcepts Racing) scored the holeshot, and led for five laps before Ryan Villopoto got by. After the race he was penalized $4,000 for a rather brutal centerpunch on Broc Tickle during the heat race.

7. Broc Tickle (RCH Racing Soaring Eagle) got punted in his heat race, and came back to qualify via the semi. The seventh he scored here matched his season-best so far.

8. Weston Peick (MotoSport/WP Racing) did it again, hanging out in the upper half of the pack.

9. Josh Grant (Toyota/Yamaha/JGRMX) came back from a few races off for a torqued shoulder, and put in a top 10 ride.

10. Andrew Short (BTO Sports/KTM) has been hovering right around the top ten all season. He scored another one here, and consistency pays. He's eighth in the points at the midway point of the season.
