Motocross is all about being fit, eating right, and training…right? Wrong! It’s all about scrubbin’, throwing siiiik whips, and above all else, looking cool no matter what. In moto, there is nothing that says “cool” more than a custom painted lid. With that in mind, we decided it was time for VitalMX to step up our game and get a Bell Moto 9 Carbon done up by one of the best in the business: Tagger Designs.
Tag Gaspirian has been painting helmets for nearly a decade and, in that time, his company, Tagger Designs, has become one of the go-to studios for custom lids ranging from your average weekend warrior all the way to factory riders. Among some of Tagger’s current clients are Honda Muscle Milk stars Justin Barcia and Trey Canard and Toyota/JGR/Yamaha’s Justin Brayton and Josh Grant. If you’ve seen any of their helmets, then you know Tag not only has some skills with an airbrush, but also thinks outside of the box.
Tag grew up in a family of artists and worked in the surf industry for a long time, so his influences are not strictly MX and he always comes up with some creative designs. With more of a pop-art style, Tagger tends to use brighter colors and thicker lines that helps differentiate their designs from other custom lids and the innumerable stock helmet graphics available these days.
So, when it finally came time to hand our Bell Moto 9 Carbon over to Tagger, we gave him very little direction. For the most part we said, “We want our logos here and here, and the rest is up to you.” What started out as a blank canvas will soon be a work of art. Check back in the next few weeks for the final result. We can't wait to see how everything turns out.
