New Year's Revolution

Now here's something you don't see every day. Now this is what we call a bike chase.

Have you made some New Year’s Resolutions? You know, the usual stuff that gets blown off after a month…or maybe a week. Lose some weight, go to the gym. That’s the kind of stuff that health club salespeople salivate over.

Not us.

What we have in mind is something a little more conceptual in nature. Mostly it’s a constant reminder to ourselves to take what we did last year, and continually try to step it up. More photos, more video, more news, and more product reviews…more of what you want in a motocross site. That includes making sure that it’s a continual evolution. To keep experimenting with new things, and not just keep following the steps that have been laid out by us and others. We like the idea of revolution over resolution.

But just like CNN.com has their I-Reporters, you can contribute here as well. Want to create a mini-revolution of your own? Try some of these:

Start Blogging
These days there’s tons of emphasis (maybe too much) put on message boards. While they definitely have their place for bench racing, they’re also no place for the thin-skinned. Bloggers get a chance to soapbox without having their topic hit some oddball tangent that’s totally unrelated to the intent of what they posted. For people who actually post interesting and thought-provoking content, that’s blogger territory, which is why we like to highlight recent blogs on the homepage here at Vital MX.

Just one suggestion…write it in something like Word or your word processing program of choice, and then copy/paste to here. That way you avoid losing something that you’ve carefully crafted due to a timeout on the site.

Upload Videos
Try shooting, editing and posting videos from events that you attend. In some ways, fans in the stands have more power than the card-carrying press members. For example, we can’t shoot video of practice or racing. But fans in the stands can, and frequently do. These days nearly everything shoots video, including little point and shoot cameras and cell phone. Some of them actually shoot surprisingly high quality stuff, and our quality settings here often surpass what you’ll find at other video sharing sites.

Upload Photos
The same goes for photos. If you catch something cool, upload it and share it with the world, and what better place to do it than a site that’s devoted full-time to motocross, instead of a site that caters to photos of kids and pets. All it takes is a membership to Vital MX, and that’s free.

Check out the photo above. That’s not something you’ll see every day, and we dig that. We like stepping out of bounds a bit, and looking for the stuff that you won’t find anywhere else. So that’s our mission. Who’s ready to jump in there with us in the New Year?
