Monster Energy Extreme Sports Kart Challenge 3

During the break between Anaheim 1 and Phoenix, we visited Pole Position Raceway in Corona, CA, for the 2nd Annual Monster Energy Extreme Sports Indoor Kart Challenge. There were plenty of two-wheeled racers on hand, as well as some four-wheeled stars, ready to duke it out for supremacy in the electric-powered karts.

While we were there, we caught up with the following riders for interviews, and you can click any of these links for more from them.

There's no shortage of cool memorabilia in the P2R locations. The truck here is the oval racer that Ricky James used.

There's everything from MX and hillclimb bikes, to Enduro machines...and the displays change from time to time.

How about a 125 from Bubba's days at Chevy Trucks Kawasaki?

Jeremy McGrath and Grant Langston hanging out between races. There were quite a few fans on hand, and it was a great chance to score some autographs.

Ricky James. Pole Position also has karts for kids, and as you can see on Ricky's kart, some with hand controls.

Chad Reed (24) slides by Christian Craig.

One of the Leduc brothers, getting all he can out of his kart. Normally you'll find him wheeling an off-road truck.

There was also a quick street freestyle demo, and we don't envy the rider...the surface was a bit slick for him.

Early in the main, it was Kenny Bartram with the lead, followed by Timmy Weigand, and Ricky James.

Chad Reed came from eighth spot, and just after they took the white flag, Bartram left this much room on the inside, and Chad took advantage of it, to nudge the Cowboy out of the way.

Score one win for Chad.

Smithline Industries supplied the trophies, and it was Reed, Bartram, and Weigand on the podium.

As far as the race action? Here are the results. We’ll still claim Jeremy as a Supercross guy, even though most of his racing these days is in an off-road truck. But other than that? Looks like it was a sweep for the two-wheeled set.

1. Chad Reed (AMA Supercross & MX Champion)

2. Kenny Bartram (X-Games Freestyle Motocross Rider)

3. Tim Weigand (International Motorcycle Rider)

4. Myles Richmond (X-Games Freestyle Motocross Rider)

These things are a blast to drive, and are surprisingly quick if you’ve never tried an electric kart. Want more info on Pole Position? They have several locations around the U.S., and are expanding globally as well. Check out www.polepositionraceway.com
