Ever since a laser pointer was confiscated from Jeff Alessi at Washougal after it was flashed at Ryan Villopoto as he sat waiting for the gate to drop, this has been one of the most-discussed topics in motocross. That, combined with a series of events afterwards, compelled MX Sports to lay out some of the most serious penalties ever in MX. Here are all the details.

    What a mess!

Way to go Davey, just like other comments on here, I 100% agree it's great to see this handled fast, specific and open to the general public that make up this sport! Davey and his crew work their butts off every round sun up to sun down to help make this the best sporting event you can possibly attend, and I can only imagine the stress they go through to continually pull this off, then you add in some dumb punk kid (sorry self proclaimed "elbow to the dome smashing adult") like Jeff that makes their jobs that much harder. Great job Davey!

Mike really needs to break that cancer off at the hip! Tony has always been a key player in all the Alessi issues on and off the track, and Jeff has been hanging out chasing any tail that will give him the time of day for the past several years around the pits....showing little to no heart, and unfortunately wasting his skills away.

Best of luck to Genova, and Mike, it's time to manage your business and lay down some ground rules and hold your staff members accountable. After all it is racing but it's still a business.

    Let's go racing!

I feel this is a light punishment. Honestly, those 3 shouldn't be aloud to participate in American Motocross. The Alessi's have proven over and over again that they are a negative impact on our sport, I I really think they should be banned. My favorite thing about moto is the sole responsibility of one rider beeting 39, and now you have a single family that wants to put other riders in danger just to better their mediocre results. Step up MX Sports, and do whats best for the safety of other riders...send Alessi to Europe or something...

Send alessi to europe? Thats mature. But hey i feel ya! But i dont believe Mike had anything to do with it, neither mike genova, but you dont know with tony the way he acts and after that pulp mx attack i lost everything for that guy, even if i dont know him. Jeff i a " kid" 23 years old evidence is there and he still says im innocent. Blaming hes X girlfriend and the laser was broken, weird the photos says difference , cant he stand up for himself and stand by what he has done? Cause in the end is only himself and Motoconcepts hes bringing into the ground. Mike seems to be more mature then ever but Tony and Jeff still stomping the ground.

Buried again by his family. Poor mike

I feel for mike if he is NOT involved. He has been trying to distance himself from his past reputation and actions.

But Mike - You have to cut your dad off eventually. In a professional manner. He will always be your dad, but DONT TAKE TONY TO THE RACES OR HAVE HIM INVOLVED IN YOUR PROFESSIONAL MOTOCROSS CAREER.
You have been in the game a while, look out for yourself now.

Tony Alessi got off too lightly. If I were running the series that comment about better have a good lawyer, coming as his first response when Coombs had the confiscated card in his hand, would cause me to permanently separate him from the series. Fortunately, that dumbass comment will likely be discoverable if he ever does actually sue anyone for anything.

Good job Davey and the MX Sports crew. It's good to see ground being held and the proper punishments/fines being handed out.

I think one of the most overlooked parts of all of this is that EVERYTHING was published publicly. No hush-hush behind closed-doors get half the story type of deal. I commend MX Sports and I hope for future issues, it is handled in the same manner.

For sure, I hate hearing all these rumors and hearsay when drama goes down. MX deserves to have the open reporting of incidents that other sports have.

I'm glad Coombs and company got their ducks in a row and put the hammer down on MCR. Officials have enough to deal with on race day, let alone ass clowns like this.

Well done Davey and mx sports! The sport can only grow and thrive when it's run in a professional manner, at which point people will take it seriously. The Alessi clan have placed themselves in so many compromising positions and only have themselves to blame. They need to own up to their behavior and hold each other accountable, until then it'll just be the same ole same ole....
