Getting Dirty at Glen Helen 3

We peeked out at Glen Helen this week to see what everyone's up to, and things were plenty busy, with a short layout (yeah, the mandatory water restrictions accounced by the State of California do affect them), and they have a Loretta's Area qualifier, the MTA 2-Stroke World Championships, and  REM races this weekend. Of course, lots of the riders were doing pre-season testing for the Nationals, as well. Let's take a look.

Colton Haaker was burning up some laps on his Husky two-stroker.

Josh Grant was busy with the Discount Tire Racing/TwoTwo Motorsports crew, dialing in his Kawasaki for the summer.

Eli Tomac was floating over this big hip jump when they weren't on the sidelines making suspension adjustments.

With almost non-stop action on the track, and a mix of bikes, there was the occasional rider down. Andrew Short was doing a little traffic control for this one.

With the high numbers of riders on the track at any given time, it didn't make for much of a stopwatch day.

Who's getting pumped for the start of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship? Glen Helen will be round two this year.

Joey Savatgy on the run-out at the bottom of the downhill from the top of Mt. St. Helens.

Blake Baggett was his second day of outdoor riding, and they were going through a full slate of changes to his bike to find a "feel" that he likes.

In the morning it was pretty windy out there, and it was interesting to watch and see how far the wind would move the riders over on this jump.

We'd spotted Johnny O keeping a watchful eye on Jeremy Martin the other day, but got a chance to check in with him. Yep, with the injury to Justin Barcia, Johnny is now working with Jeremy, and he's been impressed with the work that he's willing to do.

Ken Roczen's doing more riding for fun and rehab than serious testing...at least at this point. He's also still pretty leary at sticking his left foot out in corners.

Some riders show up at Glen Helen early, while others, like Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki and Yamalube Star Racing Yamaha, opt to arrive later and do their testing when the track is rougher.
