Easton EXP Bar System

You might be familiar with Easton from archery, which is where they got their start. Or if your familiarity with them is a bit more recent, it may be that you know them from their aluminum bats. They’ve also done a ton of work in cycling, making everything from frame tubing to stems, seat posts, rims, and yes…handlebars.

Of course most of us are familiar with their motocross history, where they developed the original oversized aluminum Taperwall aluminum bar, which Pro Taper happily sold for years. Back then, it was fairly shocking to see a handlebar with no crossbar. Now in the present era, they’ve made another jump, going from the 1 1/8-inch bar, up to 1 3/8-inch, along with a whole different batch of clamps that feature four bolts per side, rather than the usual two.

Easton EXP Bar System Vital MotocrossOne of the clamp offerings has a 5mm offset, so you can move your bars forward or back. You can also see a bit of the unique design in their four-bolt Top Lock clamps which are designed to increase clamping power, without putting undue stress on the bars. It also completely changes up the way you torque your clamps, so be sure to pay attention to the instructions.

The crew from Easton recently stopped by the Vital MX offices to talk about their new product, and you can check out the video (see the link above) to find out more.
