DC Moto TF (Motocross Training Facility) 5

Yamaha will be the official bike supplier for DC's Moto TF at Pala Raceway. It looks like additional facilities were being assembled for some of DC's other athletes as well. There was a mega-ramp similar to the one used at the X Games for BMX Big Air and Skate Big Air on site. Click any image in the article for a larger version.

Yesterday we stopped by Pala Raceway to check out a ride day for the introduction of DC's Moto TF (Motocross Training Facility), which follows in the spirit of training facilities that DC has built for their skate and snowboard athletes. Yamaha will supply bikes for the facility, as well as doing some cross-promotions with DC in the future. You can check out the full press releases from each company below.

In addition to the launch of the training facility, DC was also working on photos and video with their sponsored riders for ads and promo materials, and also hosted a poker tournament later at the Pala Casino. Below you'll find a few photos from the day, and we'll have some more interviews up later on.

The DNA Shred Stix / Star Racing / Yamaha guys (like Martin Davalos, left) made a morning appearance, but headed out early to get ready for their team photo shoot today. Davi Millsaps has been one of DC's athletes for quite a while. He was still sporting Arai helmets here, but will be wearing an AGV lid for the upcoming season. They're out being painted now.

The DNA Shred Stix / Star Racing / Yamaha graphics have picked up a splash of pink since we last saw them.

Whoa. Check out the extensive porting on the new Yamaha's airbox. With the airbox up front, you get a lot of sound as the bike is coming towards you...it's a different sort of howl from the exhaust, but also pretty loud. Yep, this stuff will get swapped out for a more standard setup for wet and/or mud.

As we get closer to the season, riders are getting dialed on details like goggles (like these Spys that Tommy Searle was checking out).

Adam Cianciarulo was hitting a freestyle ramp while we were there, and more than a few observers around were proclaiming that he'll be the next big thing in Supercross.

One of the coolest things of the day? Seeing MC riding with his daughters, Rhowan and Bergen.

Yamaha Announces Marketing Partnership with DC

Cypress California, December 9, 2009…Yamaha Motor Corporation is pleased to announce today an exciting new partnership with the iconic skateboarding and action sports brand, DC.

This bold new partnership will see Yamaha support DC’s new motocross training facility “MotoTF”, at Pala Raceway in Southern California with new YZ and TT-R Motocross and off road machines including the ground breaking new 2010 YZ450F. Additionally, this coming Spring, DC and Yamaha will partner with a variety of cross promotional programs at many of DC’s key action sports retailers around the country including a contest to win custom DC branded TT-R125 Off-Road Motorcycles.

“We couldn’t be more excited to announce this new partnership with DC”, said Bob Starr, General Manager of Communications for Yamaha’s Motorsports Group, “as we firmly believe that Yamaha and DC customers share a common passion for action sports.”

“Our first call was to Yamaha.” Said Brian Cassaro, Action Sports Marketing Director for DC Shoes, “As they have the strong brand image and presence in the marketplace that we know will add to our promotional opportunities in the year ahead. DC Moto TF

DC is proud to announce that it has partnered with the Pala Raceway to create the DC Moto TF, the official training facility for DC's Motocross Team. Located in San Diego County the Pala Raceway is Southern California's premier raceway and the ideal place for the DC Motocross team to train together and for DC to host its numerous motocross programs.

"The choice of Pala Raceway was a simple one," said Brian Cassaro, Director of Action Sports Marketing at DC. "It is Southern California's hottest MX track, has excellent facilities, and it's close to DC and many of our athletes.

The Pala partnership allows DC to develop a place for its team to train, design and test products, and help with the progression of the team and their sport. The Pala facility will be DC's third training facility. In 1998, Rob Dyrdek created the first DC training facility for exclusive use by the DC skate team, and in 2002 the DC snow team got a private park to train at when DC co-founder and Chief Brand Officer Ken Block, built the DC MTN.Lab in Park City, Utah.

In addition to using the facility as a training center for the motocross team, DC will hose exclusive retailer and media events throughout the year. The motocross industry and fans alike will be able to catch the DC motocross team in action like never before.

"When we met with DC we knew immediately that the vision DC was laying out would be a perfect fit at Pala Raceway. The relationship between DC and Pala Raceway will have lasting benefits for the members of Pala Raceway and DC's professional athletes," said Ryan Ouellette, President Pala Raceway. "We are excited for our member to see the progression of the facility thanks to the new alliance between our two companies."

Yamaha will be the official bike sponsor of the Moto TF and has given DC exclusive bikes for use at the tracks that will feature custom DC Moto TF Yamaha graphics. Look for DC and Yamaha to hose consumer giveaways with retailers and media partners in 2010.
