Okay, we're halfway through the 2009 Monster Energy Supercross season, and things are settling in...sort of. The same duo of riders who won in Houston (James Stewart and Christophe Pourcel), won here. But that doesn't mean there aren't some surprises in the series. Here are a few from Atlanta:

After finishing second in Houston and looking like a serious title contender in '09, Brett Metcalfe fell in practice and broke one of his collarbones.

Austin Stroupe led two-thirds of the Lites main event. That wasn't much of a surprise...his speed has never been in doubt. What was a surprise was that he made a mistake after the finish line jump, stalling his Kawasaki, and handing the lead to Christophe Pourcel.

Nico Izzi had a crash in practice, and another in his heat race, so he ended up having to qualify for the main through the LCQ. He came back to finish second.

The nearly 70,000 fans in Atlanta? That wasn't a surprise. This is always one of the biggest events of the series, and one that the riders love to win.

With his seventh win in a row, James Stewart now has the points lead in the Supercross class by three points over Chad Reed.

Broc Hepler ran in second spot for almost half of the Supercross main, before slipping back to fifth as Chad Reed, Ryan Villopoto, and Andrew Short got past him. But considering it's still only his second Supercross aboard a 450, that was a great ride for him.
