Setting a bore gauge with a known standard versus a micrometer( when was the micrometer checked with a gauge block) really determines the quality of work. You could easily be off dimensionally as much as .002-.003 thousands average vs excellent work. ... more »

Sorry ,that is not the way to set a bore gauge! not even close! I like how you clamped your mic in thr vise! You need gauge blocks( certified) , special gauge block clamp set-up, surface plate.

Thanks for the tip on how to make a tool to get the forks apart. It was a 15/16" nut. Now for a new question. About to put the forks back together. I got new copper bushings for the inside of the fork leg as mine had wear on one side. Figured I would put them back togehther as new as possible. How the heck do you get the old ones out??
