Like the title says, which orientation do I place the valve shims in order to PRESERVE the stamped size indication on the shim? I can't stand it when I pull out the shims on an older bike and I have to use a micro-meter to find it's size. I cant remember ... more »

Anodizing, for whatever reason that I do not know, does not work on cast aluminum. Anodizing on a MX machine is usually reserved for components that have been machined out of billet. Not OEM hubs, frames, cylinder heads, etc. I've contacted Hinson about ... more »

Got them out tonight by using a torch and dropping the case about six inches onto a piece of cardboard laying on the garage floor. They fell out just like you all said. Another question while this thread is rolling; I'm going to buy new needle bearings ... more »

The case is cracked where one of the transmission shift fork rods sits into. I included a pic ( The crack is at about 9 o'clock). It's very minor but enough to allow play in the rod and poor shifting. It's bound up a few times once put together.

I installed all new transmission bearings, main bearings, and counter shaft bearings into a case with an extremely minor crack that I did not see until it was time to seal the cases. I'm not willing to take the chance on the cracked case so I've ordered ... more »

I use a heat gun to soften the plastic base. Just be sure to continuously move the heat gun around and not stick in one area or you risk melting it. A couple minutes should do the trick. Using this method, a standard stapler works fine. I actually had ... more »
