Added reply in a thread Voice of reason! If people around the world were educated enough to understand this, the world would be a betteplace. 6/16/2013 4:28 PM

Did Christianity improve Sweden or make it worse? From what I understand prior to Christianity your people were a menacing horde pillaging coastal villages and now look how genteel and good natured you are. So, are all religions really a bad thing for ... more »

Added reply in a thread Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman 6/14/2013 11:37 AM

It seems to me that both Zimmerman and Martin contributed to the unfortunate outcome, but the facts are Martin is dead and Zimmerman instigated the confrontation. He should be held responsible for those two things.

Started new thread Rand Paul says U.S. taxpayers are funding a ‘war on Christianity’ 6/13/2013 1:18 PM

Looks like he is trying to coalesce the Paul, Santorum, and Huckabee bases. Unlike his pops Rand is a legit candidate if he can pull this off. Rand Paul says U.S. taxpayers are funding a ‘war on Christianity’

Nah, I think you can get a pretty good idea of what Jesus was about with just a rudimentary reading of the gospels, maybe you should try it sometime if for nothing else so you are not completely ignorant of them.

I think It is more likely for sexual abuse to come from someone who is "straight" then one who is openly gay.

Added reply in a thread I'm happy to hear the Southern Baptists... 6/1/2013 9:23 AM

I have read the gospels a couple of times and the impression I got from them is that Jesus was always reaching out to those who have been marginalized by society and especially by the religious establishments. If Jesus was a Scout Master and an openly ... more »

Added reply in a thread Dog owners ,flea control 5/6/2013 9:25 AM

For whatever reason my dogs never get fleas but if they did I wouldn't go the chemotherapy route. I used a product for a little while that was a heart worm medication along with a flea birth control aspect to it, so it didn't kill the fleas it just made ... more »

Added reply in a thread Data about Psych drugs 5/3/2013 12:59 PM

You can't really compare the two eras because as Psych drugs became more and more effective in treating mental illness we moved away from institutionalization. So before Psych drugs the government just locked people away. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deinstitutionalisation

What do you mean?

Added reply in a thread Supreme Court on Gay marriage 3/27/2013 1:47 PM

Just to clarify a few things here, First off there are many Gay Christians and several of the largest Protestant denominations accept Gay marriage and allow clergy to perform gay marriage ceremonies.. So to say that it is the religious people who are ... more »

No that wasn't my point, not at all. Two points I made were Time magazine is a joke of a publication (not saying the author is) and there are lots of reasons for high healthcare costs and greed seems to be at the heart of it. So, how is it that I am ... more »

Added reply in a thread Bitter Pill: Why Medical Bills Are Killing Us 2/28/2013 10:39 AM

The point of my post was there are numerous reasons for high healthcare cost not just what this guy says. I heard him talk about the chargemaster, essentially it was like how the the Department of Defense pays $150.00 for a hammer that costs $20.00 at ... more »

Like I said I saw the guy interviewed on the telly, so I caught his main points then. What did I say that was "Disconnected from reality". My wife is a outpatient healthcare manager so I have some familiarity with the industry.

Considering this article is from Time magazine there is no good reason to waste time (pun intended) reading it. However, I think I caught this guy on the PBS new hour a few nights ago and basically he boiled the problem down to over paid, greedy high ... more »

What Vitz does is actually make a counter argument, essentially saying to these atheist Psychologists and Philosophers that their methods can be used to explain their beliefs as well. If it is smug for Vitz to make this kind of argument then you also ... more »

That is a possibility, but do you think that would be strong enough of a motivation considering all of the good that has been accomplished in the name of God.

Added reply in a thread The Psychology of Atheism 2/8/2013 6:57 PM

You consider that statement to be didsparaging and a attack? Really? How would you explain why atheists like the ones Vitz mentioned devoted much of their lifes work arguing against something that they believe doesn't even exist? I wasn't ... more »
