TEAM:
Team DNA Energy Drink / BTOSports / BBMX headed to St. Louis this past weekend keeping the momentum rolling from Detroit all the way to Vegas in a few weeks.
Kyle (MudNut) Keylon had another weekend in the main event. After battling with Josh Grant in the heat race, he once again made it directly to the final with a strong 8th place. The rutty, technical St. Louis track would jump up and bite the Brooksville Berminator in the main event, however, and relegate him to a 20th place finish. He is continually learning and improving which bodes well for his rookie season.
Matt Boni had a frustrating weekend in Missouri. After running near the front of his heat, another rider would go down and collect the lanky lad from Geneva, FL. A crazy LCQ would see Matt in and out of qualifying spot, but when the checkers flew he crossed the line in 5th, earning the Asterisk Medic Card and a trip to the podium. Missing the main event was definitely disappointing for Matt, but after 2 podium finishes in the East series he has definitely turned some heads. It also gave him a chance to thank all of our great sponsors.

BBMX Dallas race report
TEAM:Team DNA Energy Drink / BTOSports / BBMX came into Dallas, TX this weekend fresh off of the teams best weekend in SX since its inception. Coming off the podium sweep of the Lites class in Toronto, Canada was going to be hard to top, but the team still came out well with four riders in the main events. JT$ and Johnson both put it in the 450 main straight out their heat races. Both guys road solid and did what they came their to do.In the Lites class, Matt Boni road a solid he race finishing up in 6th, while Kyle Keylon took a spill while running 2nd at the beginning of the race. Keylon would come back in the LCQ and qualify in 2nd place right behind series points leader, Trey Canard. It was no doubt one of Keylon's best rides so far in his rookie season.

Photo: Chris Hultner/Vitalmx.comIn the main events, JT and Johnson both suffered poor starts, but slowly started to pick their way through the pack on the extremely one lined track. Johnson would get taken out mid race by wild man Antonio Balbi. Balbi collected the "other" Keith Johnson (from AX fame), which in turn fell in front of BBMX Johnson, taking them both down pretty hard. Johnson would remount, but have to visit the mechanic area to get his front end straightened back up. It was a hard finish for Johnson on the night, after being the 10 fastest qualifier after practice and a very solid heat race. JT$ would put in one of his stellar rides throughout the main event. JT would finish off in 13th, passing KTM's Nick Wey on the very last lap for the spot. JT now sits just 8 points out of 3rd place for the Privateer Challenge.

Bryan Johnson had a tough night in Dallas.
Photo: Chris Hultner/Vitalmx.comIn the Lites class, Matt Boni would start off on fire. Boni came from not so great start to 7th position by lap 5. It was looking to be a solid night for the #109, before getting the bad end of an aggressive pass from Ryan Morias. The crash broke Boni's front break rotor, causing an early DNF. It was again like Johnson's 450 main, a quick end to an up to that point solid night. Keylon would have a decent main event going before taking a spill about mid race. He would remount with a sore wrist and finish off the nights main event in 19th place.OTHER:The Dallas track was one of those tracks that got better as the night went on. The Dallas dirt is always hard for the track workers, leaving a lot of kickers and pot holes on the course. Practice was a bit sketchy for everyone, from the slowest guy all the way up to Chad Reed. However, once the night show rolled around most of the guys seemed to like the track a lot better.Racing was back to the norm, Reed and Villopoto dominated the night and looked like their old selves. There was some exciting racing that went on behind them, but they ruled up front for the most part. The track had some tough rhythm sections in it, but most of the main event riders seemed to have the same lines dialed making for a very hard to pass on track. This added in some aggressive moves, but non the less kept it exciting and close for the fans. All in all, it was a good night at the races. The series now heads up to Detroit, MI for round 13.For more news and team updates, please log onto www.ButlerBrothersMx.com and www.dnaenergydrink.com or www.btosports.com

BBMX Toronto report
Team DNA Energy Drink - BTOSports - BBMX made quite an impact this past weekend up in Toronto, Canada for round 12 of the World SX Series. The team absolutely dominated the Lites class up in Toronto, winning every race held on the evening and sweeping the podium in the main event. Team riders Matt Boni and Kyle Cunningham both won their heat races, with rookie teammate Kyle Keylon even leading 3 laps of the first heat as well. Then in the main event, it was all 3rd year team rider Shaun Skinner putting in the most solid ride of his pro career with 15 nearly flawless laps.

Skinner started out 3rd and quickly moved into the lead by the end of the first lap. Teammate and fastest qualifier on the night, Kyle Cunningham ran right on Skinner before going down on the very unforgiving Toronto track and would remount in 17th position. Cunningham would put in a stellar ride to come from that far back to grab the 3rd place and the final spot on the podium. Team rider, and 3rd place finisher from the Daytona SX, Matt Boni would soon move into second and capitalize on a few big mistakes by Skinner to move right up on his back end. The two BBMX riders then settled in for a few laps before Boni made his first big mistake allowing Skinner to pull out his lead. From then on it was all Shaun Skinner as he continued to drop his lap times down each and every lap for the rest of the main event. Boni would remount from his mistake to hold onto 2nd place. BBMX rider Kyle Keylon would also finish off in 8th position.

The results would end up seeing the DNA Energy Drink - BTOSports - BBMX team taking their first win in the Lites class, along with a full blown podium sweep, and both heat race wins. To say it was a good weekend for the team is an understatement.
In the big boy class, veteran team rider Jason Thomas would put in a heck of a heat race ride to grab a transfer position. After that, JT put the team in the top 10 in the big class as well finishing off the night in 10th position. JT ran up as high as 7th at one point before hitting the dirt on the treacherous track. He remounted and put his head down in typical JT fashion and moved himself back up the ladder in the overall points as well.

BBMX Indianapolis race recap
Round 9 of the AMA supercross series visited the city of Indianapolis this past weekend, where it would be the last supercross race held at the RCA dome. The RCA dome will be demolished later this year to make way for a new, even bigger stadium that is double the size of the current dome. Needless to say this was a very special night in Indy.

Indy also marks the 2nd round of the East coast lites championship. The east coast riders have had the first 8 weeks of the year off, and are ready to take to the tracks of supercross to battle.
Due to the cold weather in Indy this time of year, the pit area was inside a huge convention hall adjacent to the dome(basically across the hallway, as the convention center is also connected to the dome). All of the team semis were parked in a huge room, while the local privateers had to pit against the wall. It makes for a very cozy pit set-up for the teams and riders.

The Chad Reed designed track proved to be a technical layout that only saw one little sand section and a little whoop section before the finish line. No whoops, but two rhythem sections on each end of the stadium provided many options for combos/lines for the riders.
All the BBMX riders made the night show out of the practice qualifiers except for Matt Boni. Matt was experiencing bike issues all throughout both practices and could not lay down a solid lap. Look for Matt to bounce back in Daytona this weekend.
The Night Show:
Kyle Keylon was in the first heat of the night as the lites class raced to the first turn. Keylon had a mid-pack start and had to battle his way through traffic. Kyle had a few issues with the tricky rythem sections and cased a triple one lap. He finished 18th and his chance for his first main event would have to come through the LCQ.

Kyle launched out of the gate in the Lites LCQ, and was running in 3rd for the first 2 laps. Keylon was passed for 3rd, but was still in a transfer position sitting in 4th. The last lap the pressure was on as Leighton Lillie was all over the back of Keylon. Coming into the last corner, Keylon grabbed too much brake, and slid out the rear end up over the edge of the last turn berm, ending his chance at transfer position. He would remount and finish 14th. Kyle will be out for redemption in Daytona and will be riding hard.

In the SX class, JT$ and Bryan Johnson lined up on opposite ends of the dog house in SX heat one. Thomas and Johnson blasted out of the gate and got a great start. JT diced it up front and secured a 5th place finish, while Johnson made up positions and finished 8th to secure his spot in the main event.
The Main:
As the 20 rider gate headed toward turn one for the last time in the RCA dome, both JT and Johnson rounded the first corner middle of the pack fighting for 8th and 9th. On lap five, Johnson clipped a tough block and lost control of his bike, which sent him into the stadium wall that lines the track. The impact destroyed the front end of the bike, but Johnson was able to walk away un-injured.
Meanwhile, JT was having a good race, passing DV12 and Voss to secure 10th. On lap 14 Josh Summy crashed in the sand section in front of JT. JT had no where to go and slammed into Summy's bike. It took a few seconds for JT to untangle his front tire from Summy's bike, but by that time JT was down in 16th. He rode hard to gain 3 spots to finish the night in 13th.
As the exhaust fumes settled and the sound level came back down to normal, the last race at the RCA dome was over. The team packed things up and headed out that night for Daytona and in-store appearances at a few local shops in the Florida area.
If you are headed to Daytona, make sure you stop and say hi to the BBMX guys and let them know you are behind them 100%. Oh, and don't forget to take lots of photos and submit them to the website. The BBMX/Rick Case Honda/DNA Energy/BTOsports.com team will be in full force in Daytona!

BBMX San Diego recap...
BBMX San Diego recapMonday, February 11, 2008Round six of the AMA Supercross series headed to beautiful San Diego, which would be the last California round of the series. As always, San Diego greeted the riders and teams with sunny and warm weather, which is something we haven't had much of so far this season.
{mospagebreak}
The San Diego track was a technical track that had the season's longest start so far.
San Diego saw the return of Bryan Johnson to action to the BBMX line-up since his hand injury suffered in San Francisco a few weeks back.
Kyle Cunningham came into San Diego 10th in points and was looking to move up in the standings. After his impressive 5th place ride last weekend at A3, Kyle came into San Diego ready for battle.
During the afternoon practice/qualifiers, Shaun Skinner battled bike problems as his bike would not run right on the bottom end. Shaun's mechanic, Eric Stewart chased the mechanical gremlins during the afternoon break and Skinner was able to put down laps in qualifying session two. Unfortunately, he came up short by 1/1000 of a second and did not qualify for the night show.
Kyle Cunningham qualified 8th to seat himself into the night show. In the Supercross class, Jason Thomas, Brandon Butler and Bryan Johnson all secured spots for the night's racing.
The Night Show
Kyle Cunningham had a rough heat as he did not get the start he needed. Being stuck mid-pack, Kyle went down in the sandy first turn around lap 4. After kicking the bike a few times, KC finished out of a qualifying spot and his chance for a spot in the main had to come through the LCQ.
KC grabbed a good start in his LCQ and was in the 4th and final transfer position for the main. A fierce battle with Billy Laninovich of the MDK KTM team lasted all race until Billy made a pass on KC at the last corner before the finish on the last lap. KC had to let off to keep from colliding with Laninovich, and that costed KC a transfer spot.
In the Supercross class, Bryan Johnson finished 10th in his heat, just one out of a transfer spot as he battled from a mid-pack start. Bryan and Brandon both had to go into the LCQ, where Bryan was caught up in the start gate and ending his night. Brandon finished 13th in the LCQ. Not bad considering he is still nursing an injured hand. Look for both riders to come on strong as their injuries heal up.
Jason Thomas rode very strong in his heat race, finishing 6th to grab a spot in the main. JT rode very consistent, put his head down and got it done. The Main
Jason Thomas came charging out of the gate and had a great start, running the first eight laps in 9th place. JT and Nick Wey had a battle for most of the main, going back and forth until Wey made the pass. After that, JT rode very strong to finish the night in 10th, holding off Team Kawasaki's Travis Preston. San Diego was JT's best ride of the season so far and no doubt his confidence level is up there again.
"I have just been having some bad luck on the west coast this season, but it was nice to pull off a good finish before heading back east this year for sure. I am really looking forward to racing in Houston this up coming weekend. My bike is working good and I really like the dirt there", said Jason. JT was the top finishing privateer at San Diego.
So as the sun sets on the west coast rounds, with only Houston and Seattle remaining, Kyle Cunningham sits 13th in points. Look for Kyle to come out with a vengeance in Houston and Seattle.
Jason Thomas has seemed to find his groove again and will be out for another top 10 in Houston as well. As his hand continues to heal, Bryan Johnson will no doubt be back and running in the top 10 as the series heads closer to home soil for him.
If you are planning to visit any of the east coast rounds, be sure to stop by the BBMX/DNA Energy/BTOsports.com/Rick Case Honda semi to pick up your signed posters of the BBMX team riders. While you are there, take a few photos of the guys(or even with the guys) and submit them to the website. We would love to have photos of our fans here on the site. To check out the full BBMX San Diego photo gallery, click here or the photo below.
Until Houston...
