Got hooked on this sport in 1972 at the behest of a friend who, basically, dared me into it. I just wanted to ride trails. The thought of racing actually scared the crap out of me. Guess what? Turns out I had a little bit of knack for it. Not great. Just good. But school, career and girls were my first priorities, so, like a lot of you, I ended up floating in and out of the sport. Unlike that other stuff, it's been the one reliable constant in my life.
