About Me
My name is Mike, I am a 50+ Expert/Pro. I have been racing since 1966. For the most part I race Motocross GPs, for simple reason is I like to spend more time on the track, and less time in the pits. I raced Motocross, when it was called A European Scrambles. In my day, I raced at: Dead Man's Point ~ Saddleback (The Original) not that shitty little thing that popped up a couple years ago ~ Escape country ~ Carlsbad ~ El Toro raceway ~ O.C.I.R ~ Rawhide ~ Indian Dunes ~ Baymare ~ Hopetown ~ and Corona. There is probably more but I can't remember at this time...I hit most of them. In my day of a serious MXer, the classes consisted of 100cc 250cc & Opencc classes. Novice, Amateur, and Expert. I remember the first time The Eiros came over most notibly Torsten Hallman. He kick proverbial ass ! I raced a lot of Desert D-37. My father was a President of the San Gabriel Valley motorcycle club. He was a key player in the birth of the "Barstow to Vegas" We worked the finish line every year. A couple of my fathers close friends, were Steve McQueen, Lee Marvin, and Malcohm Smith...I stopped in to see Malcohm the other day, to talk of the old days...he is such a gentleman. Today, I am a slow Pro...51 years old, but still racing...I win some, I lose most...Gary jones is damn fast still ! I have past him, but have yet to beat him. I am fortunate enough that I still get handed bikes and products to race. Sometimes it is good to be me. I have sponsored a few Pros in my time Mickey Dymond, Stephane Roncada, Willy Musgrave, and some local Pros. In return I have gotton a lot of support for my own racing. I have run a few different motorcycle shops, done a couple video spots for Honda, a couple commercials for the motorcycle industry. Worked for Torsten Hallman, in the early 80s, Wheelsport dist. (which is now Tucker Rocky), in the late 70s I have won a couple adult mini world championships, and as a Professional team manager, I won the World Endurance championship. Six, 12, and 24 hour GP series in 2003. I won the 40 expert class championship in 2004, the 125 expert class in 1999. Open class GP champion in 1998. I never make time to go practice, I just show up and race...I have raced at least once a month for the last 33 years.
